FIVE MINUTES TO KICK-OFF: Colombia have won as many games at this year’s World Cup (3) as they did in their previous 13 games in the competition (3). This is already Colombia’s most prolific World Cup in terms of goals scored (9 after 3 games).

STAT: Uruguay have scored in each of their last nine World Cup games – the last time they failed to find the net was against France on 11 June 2010.

STAT: Colombia and Uruguay’s only previous World Cup encounter was in the group stages of the 1962 tournament; the Celeste won 2-1 despite Colombia opening the scoring. It is Colombia’s only previous game against a fellow South American team at the World Cup.

Jose Pekerman: "Managing to win three games makes us trust ourselves even more. We feel really confident. We have proved once again that Colombia are a very tight team. We think we will be difficult opponents for Uruguay. They have history and great players and experience and they never give up. They are very consistent, strong and with a lot of experience."

Oscar Tabarez: "To the fans, they, like us, are moved by the severity of this punishment [to Luis Suarez]: I want to let them know that we are hurt, but we desire more than ever to do well [against Colombia] and we will do our utmost."

So James Rodriguez and Mario Yepes slot straight back in after being rested from the start against Japan. Uruguay are obviously without talismanic forward Luis Suarez, who was sent home and banned from all international football for four months after biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini. Diego Forlan fills in for the Liverpool striker.
