Hello! ¡Hola! Zdravo! The World Cup is hotting up now, and Group A is about to be decided. Cameroon are already out, and they'll be playing Brazil, but the rest is all up for grabs. It's likely one of these two teams here, Mexico and Croatia, will be eliminated. The only way they can both go through is if they draw and Brazil lose to Cameroon. With the latter being unlikely, they'll basically both be fighting it out for a place in the knockout stages. Croatia need to win, but a draw will probably see Mexico through.

And that's yer lot - Mexico three, Croatia one. It wasn't a great game for most of it but with twenty minutes to go it got very silly indeed. Mexico even briefly looked like they might go on to top the group before Croatia and Brazil goals scuppered them. As it is, they'll go through to play the Netherlands in the second round. Brazil, meanwhile, will face Chile. Thanks for reading, and goodnight.

Wow - Perisic could've set up a very tense final few minutes there, with a close-range volley that looked for all the world to be going in, but Ochoa tipped it away. A fine save.

It's all happening. Ante Rebic, the substitute, sees red now for a challenge that was aggressive but still very harsh to be called a red card. It's all over now.

GOAL! And now they definitely won't be topping the group, because Croatia have reduced it to 3-1. Perisic gets down the left channel and though the angle is tight, he rifles in his effort past Ochoa and into the net.

Croatia earn a corner - Mexico look like they want another but it'll probably be in vain as Brazil have just bagged a fourth against Cameroon and surely secured top spot.

GOAL! Good grief, what have Mexico found in this last spell? They're one goal away from topping Brazil in the group! This is incredible! A corner is flicked on for Javier Hernandez at the back post and he easily heads beyond the keeper to put Mexico on the brink of something phenomenal.

Peralta off, Pena on. Mexico would need two more to top the group, incidentally, assuming the scoreline in the Brazil game remains as it is...

GOAL! And another! Mexico are through via Andres Guardado. It was an excellent finish, blasted into the roof of the net, and the Mexico coach is going bonkers in jubilation. If Croatia fall apart here, it's not out of the realms of possibility that Mexico could top the group...

GOAL! Mexico surely fire themselves into the knockout stages, and it's Rafael Marquez who gets it after a fine delivery from Hector Herrera. Croatia will need two goals now - it's kitchen sink time.

Goodness me. A shocker of a backpass from Aguilar goes straight to Olic in space, but he tries to cross it and only finds a Mexico player. There would have been serious scenes if Croatia had scored then.

How are Mexico not ahead? A Herrera corner has to be cleared off the line and then Croatia repeat the trick just minutes later. There is last-ditch defending, and then there is this.

Aguilar gives his marker twisted blood before standing up a cross to the far side of the area for Guardado, and as he hits it, it whacks into Srna who has his arms outstretched, even as he tries to withdraw them. That should probably be a penalty. Mexico are going absolutely bananas. That will be very controversial if Croatia go on to prevail here.

So, what can Manchester United forward Hernandez offer? He may not be in the best form but he is still a devastatingly effective goalscorer on his day. Is that today?

Hernandez is on, and Giovani Dos Santos is the one who will make way. Mexico want that goal to secure their progress.

Corner again for Mexico after the free-kick predictably comes to nothing. Javier Hernandez is warming up.

Another set-piece opportunity for Mexico. They've been rubbish at these so far - I wouldn't be at all comfortable if I was a Mexico fan right now though, Croatia look like they are well worth a goal here.

This is getting very testy now - there's a lot of scrappy midfield play, but one moment of genius here could be decisive.

It's Brazil 3-1 Cameroon. Surely no possibility for Croatia to go through with a draw now.

That was inches away - Mario Mandzukic races onto a pass from Ivan Rakitic, but the referee's flag is up to call for offside. Replays show it was very, very close indeed. Mexico are far from home and dry yet.

And we're off again - what have Croatia got in the locker?
