No, they can't. It's finished, and it's 1-0 to Mexico, with Oribe Peralta's goal proving decisive. Cameroon had plenty of the game, and weren't outclassed, although Mexico's victory perhaps should have been a lot more comfortable if they hadn't had two goals wrongfully ruled out in the first half. Cameroon are now in serious trouble, but their opponents gain their first ever win over an African side at the World Cup. El Tri now move into second place in the group. Thanks for following, and Spain-Netherlands is coming up.

A sitter from Hernandez! Layun does well to press and win the ball right by the opposition byline, and he cuts it back for the Manchester United man who is in acres of space, but he doesn't get it on target. That was a bad, bad miss. Can Cameroon make him pay?

Guillermo Ochoa keeps Mexico's lead intact! That is a match-winning save. Choupo-Moting got his head to a deep cross that was heading for the far corner, but Ochoa got across to both keep it out and hold onto it.

Cameroon are still fighting and only a fine interception from Marquez denies Samuel Eto'o receiving a low centre. Not long left for Mexico to hold out, but they're being tested in the dying minutes here.

Good defending from Mexico, first dealing with a dangerous cross that was heading straight for Webo at the back post, and then rushing out to block Choupo-Moting's effort from range. They're almost home and dry - it's been pretty unimpressive stuff, but a win's a win.

Peralta has his goal, but Mexico have looked more dangerous since Hernandez came on and provided some real pace in the side. It could simply be because Cameroon are hurling more men forwards, of course, but there's definitely something to consider there for the coach.

Good work from the substitute Hernandez as he escapes down the right, but his cut-back can't quite find Fabian lurking in the centre, and Cameroon remain alive.

Peralta's goal looks like it could be decisive at the moment. There's still time left for more goals, but not much.

No. A poor corner evades everyone. Cameroon are running out of time now.

Eto'o wins a corner as Cameroon switch to a 4-4-2, with Pierre Webo replacing, surprisingly, Song. A chance for the old Indomitable Lions?

...alas, no. The free-kick comes to nothing as Cameroon clear easily. They must be getting desperate now.

A chance for Mexico to kill the game, with Dos Santos getting ready to deliver a free-kick in a dangerous position out wide...

Cameroon really don't look like doing anything special at all here. I suspect this will end as it is now, or 2-0 to Mexico.

And here comes the anticipated change: Javier Hernandez on, the goalscorer Peralta off.

Mexico making a change here - Guardado off, Marco Fabian on.

Cameroon go chasing it by humping in a deep cross, but it goes out of play. Something else will be needed from them if they're to get anything from this game.

Mexico, you may remember us mentioning earlier, have never beaten an African side at a World Cup, but they could be about to here. Cameroon are looking shorn of ideas.

GOAL! Peralta does score! Mexico have a deserved lead, and the stadium goes wild. Dos Santos had the initial chance, but Itandje made a fine save again. But Peralta was there to hammer in the rebound, and put his side into the lead. Cameroon in serious trouble already in this World Cup.

Cameroon do go close! Assou-Ekotto takes it, and it deflects only narrowly wide. The corner comes to nothing, and Mexico counter, but Dos Santos can't make anything of it.

Another sighting of the new vanishing spray, which is a good excuse to post this gag.
