Australia have it all to do now, they have to go forward to try and score.
But as it stands, with honours even between Denamrk and France, the Socceroos are going home anyway.

That came somewhat against the riun of play, but what a strike!

GOAL!
Peru score in their first meaningful attack! And it's a belter!
Cueva breaks into the box and lifts the ball back to Andre Carillo near the edge of the box - he hammers in a right-footed volley !

Peru win what appears to be a very clear corner but somehow it isn't given. A strange decision.

He seems OK now.

Defender Christian Ramos is recovering after receiving an attempted clearance directly in his.... gentleman's area.

Australia have had 56% of possession so far, and look to be on top against a Peru side who are not as intense as we have seen previously.

Jedinak sees tellow for a horrendous high kick near Cueva's face. He's lucky to stay on the field for that.

CHANCE!
Juric makes a diagonal run into the box and plays a ball across goal attempting to reach Kruse, but it doesn't quite reach its target!

Rogic wins a free kick near the halfway line.

The Socceroos have had most of the ball in the opening minutes. It's a fairly slow pace as they knock it around their back line.

AND WE'RE OFF!

Kick-off is five minutes away in the afternoon heat and humidity of Sochi as the teams emerge from the tunnel!
The referee today is Sergei Karasev, a no-nonsense Russian who had dispatched four or more cards in each of his last five internationals.

Before coming to the World Cup, Peru were undefeated in 15 games - winning 10 of them. The Socceroos had won only 6 of their 15 games going into the tournament, losing four of them.

Another example of the extent to which Peru fans have gone to make it to Russia...

Kick-off is 20 minutes away. The Aussies need Denamrk to lose to France and to beat Peru by a two-goal margin to guarantee a spot in the last 16.

Tomi Juric comes in for the injured Andrew Nabbout in the only change to Bert van Marwijk's XI.
Peru have made two changes from the 1-0 loss to France - midfielder Renato Tapia returns to the side and centre-back Anderson Santamaria makes his tournament debut.

The travelling South American fans have been sensational in Russia. Argentina have turned up in numbers, but approximately 43,000 have come from Peru.
According to the BBC, some sold their cars, gave up their jobs and took out big loans to follow their side to their first World Cup since 1982.
With some of the best fans - and almost certainly the best kit - it will be a shame to see Los Incas go home after this one.

It's not just the UK that's having heatwave fun: it is currently 27 degrees in Sochi with a fairly stifling 70% humidity. That may affect the speed of play in this local 5pm kick-off.
