Angola defender Yamba Asha has been banned for nine months for doping and will miss the World Cup in Germany. A FIFA statement on Monday said Yamba Asha's suspension would run until August 8 next year and includes all matches.
The Angolan left back, the only player to compete in all 12 matches his country played on their way to surprise qualification for the World Cup, has been provisionally suspended since November and was not chosen for the African Nations Cup finals in Egypt.
The 29-year-old tested positive at Angola's final World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali in October. FIFA gave no details of the drug.
He will also not be allowed to play for his club AS Aviacao, who compete in the first round of the African Champions League next month.
The defender is one of Angola's top players. The World Cup kicks off on June 9.
