Good monrning and welcome to LIVE coverage of the first free practice session of the 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel claimed his fourth Championship last weekend with a win in India and the German will look to claim another race victory here.

That's it, then. Grosjean pops up late on to set the fastest time. He leads from Hamilton, Vettel, Webber, Rosberg, Raikkonen, Di Resta, Button, Maldonado & Perez. Thanks for joining us for the first free practice. Make sure to join us again for the second session a little later on.

Grosjean goes fastest with a minute to go. hamilton had been fastest for a while but the Lotus driver, on medium compound tyres, sets a time of 1:44.241.

Grosjean sets personal best times in the first and third sectors but his overall time only good enough for fifth. His team-mate Raikkonen a tenth of a second out in sixth.

Vettel much quicker than Hamilton on the first sector but not quite able to keep up that pace throughout the lap. Hamilton still the quickest driver with eight minutes to go.

Seb looking good now. The German clocks a lap that is just two-tenths from Hamilton's time. He looks to be getting quicker...

Lotus's Grosjean and Raikkonen emerge for their final stint - both on medium compound tyres. Can they challenge Hamilton's fastest lap?

Hamilton still leads this opening free practice session. Red Bull's Webber has gone second-fastest with Hamilton's team-mate Rosberg third.

Hulkenberg returns to the track after initially setting the 11th fastest time. The Sauber driver had reportedly been ill leading up to this weekend but should be fine to compete.

It seems to have worked... Hamilton goes quicker, setting a time of 1:44.433, leading from Webber, Rosberg, Vettel and Raikkonen.

Hamilton's team are on the radio to him. They let him know that Rosberg is currently gaining time on the middle sector and suggesting using less boost on turn one, instead using it coming out of the hairpin on turn seven.

Rosberg goes quickest for a very brief period of time but his team-mate Hamilton is faster. A very tidy lap from the Brit that sees him set a time of 1:44.462.

Vettel improves upon his initial fastest lap. The Red Bull man flies round in a time of 1:44.866.

Button is back in te pits and has a problem with his car. The Brit has had real trouble with grip so far, and the mechanics are now adjusting Button's set-up - possibly the ride height.

Surprise, surprise. The world champion takes a couple of laps to familiarise himself with the track and then sets the fastest lap. The German clocks a 1:45.172.

Williams' drivers Maldonado and Bottas return to the pits to discuss changes with their team. Hamilton appears to have made a slight mistake on his latest lap. The Brit looked to be making progress but set a 1:46.0.

Expect the times to start tumbling now. There are a number of drivers out and the track will improve lap-by-lap.

Raikkonen leaves the pits and will set his first time. He's currently behind Marussia's Gonzalez on the track who will surely be conscious of that.

Fernando Alonso takes to the track and will set his first timed lap of this session. Grosjean still fastest ahead of Perez, Button, Maldonado and Gutierrez.

Grosjean sets the fastest lap time of this opening practice. The Lotus driver pips Perez by the smallest of margins, clocking a 1:45.329. A very smart lap from the Frenchman on a relatively dusty track.

Maldonado goes quickest over the middle section but can't maintain the pace and sets a lap time that is 00.957 slower than Perez's lap.
