So there it is! The first practice session was Red Bull's, the second is McLaren's! Day one of the Melbourne Grand Prix ends with Button having posted the fastest time and with all teams having learned a great deal about their new cars and their Pirelli tyres.

Luizzi is out! He's got two and a half minutes! What a day for HRT!
4'
Wasn't it the McLaren cars who finished the practice sessions on top last year? And who went on to win the race? Button.
6'
But the big news is that an HRT car may be about to get out and about for at least a lap!
8'
So, it's Button from Hamilton, from Alonso, from the Red Bulls of Vettel and Webber.
10'
Ah, having said that, the heavens have now opened and it's unlikely now that we'll see much improvement this session.
14'
Flecks of rain appear once again on the track. But, in fairness, the weather has not seriously interrupted the second practice session.
20'
There's a suggestion that there's a tail wind behind the cars as the head down the home straight at the moment.
22'
Schumacher, Massa, Perez, Barrichello and Rosberg complete the top 10 behind the McLarens and the Red Bulls and Alonso.
24'
Glock glides off the track, not for the first time today.
28'
Just Fernando Alonso in his Ferrari breaking up the McLaren-Red Bull domination at the top of the timesheets at the moment. The Spaniard is currently third quickest.
32'
Vettel finishes his 29th lap of the day as he moves fourth fastest with a 1:26.014.
34'
Button responds with a 1.25.854 as McLaren now assume the top two positions.
36'
Hamilton now goes quickest with a 1.25.986! To give you an idea, the pole time from Vettel last year was 123.919. This is just second free practice after all. Plenty more to come.
38'
That's it! Twice race winner Button goes top with a 1:23.156 as a Red Bull car again sets the pace.
40'
Button is flying here and we could have a new pacesetter in a minute...
44'
Buemi runs wide and hits the gravel as the sun comes out in Melbourne!
46'
Hamilton looks quick on this lap but he gets held up before the home straight and the chance goes begging.
48'
Hamilton attacks turn one again as he looks to better his time which sees him occupy third place at the moment.
