The Red Bull appears unstoppable, whatever the conditions conjure up. He's just gone top of the order with a 1:27.531.

Hamilton quickly puts his struggles to one side though and goes third fastest. He’s got great memories of this track, mainly overtaking Timo Glock in the final corner to win the world championship at Massa’s expense…

20'
Alonso flies through the sector one marker... The Spaniard is six tenths down already on Rosberg.
21'
Finally. With just over 20 minutes remaining, Fernando Alonso has crawled out of the pit lane and onto the circuit.
26'
Bianchi gets out of shape in the twisty middle sector before Chilton follows suit and locks up through turn 8.

The Brazilian sky remains murky but is it really that bad to stay in the garage? Especially when there’s a fair chance these conditions will be replicated come Sunday? Saving tyres is a factor but surely everyone should post a couple of laps at the least - the weather is bad, but not horrendous.

McLaren have granted Sergio Perez permission to fly around the Interlagos loop but they're quickly on the radio to advise him about saving the rear tyres.

The attention turns to Hulkenberg as the rest of the paddock hangs around in the pits. The track really isn't that bad so it's a shame that the likes of Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton have decided to skip the opening 50 minutes.
