Vettel has gone straight into the FIA garage to get an explanation regarding the five-second time penalty that he was handed. So we won't get to hear from the German for a while.

A bizarre, bizarre race. Vettel domnated from start to finish, but one mistake cost him. Although the German will argue that it was the time penalty that cost him. He is fuming on the team radio.

VETTEL CROSSES THE LINE FIRST, HAMILTON WINS! Figure that one out! Hamilton didn't have the pace, even with the DRS, to get past the Ferrari, but it didn't matter in the end. The five second time penalty cost Vettel!

Stroll up into P9 after passing Sainz! Kyvat also gets past Sainz! Just one lap left of the Canadian GP. A quick glance at the standings... 1) Vettel 2) Hamilton 3) Leclerc 4) Bottas 5) Verstappen 6) Ricciardo 7) Hulkenberg

Vettel leads Hamilton by 0.6 seconds. It's looking very likely that the Mercedes will claim the race victory even if it's a Ferrari that crosses the line first. Leclerc might even finish second as well!

This is the discussion point! This one will rumble on!

An update from down the standing - Bottas is still in P4 and Stroll is holding on to P10 which would be a great point gained for the Racing Point driver. Leclerc is really pushing right now.

It's not looking likely that Vettel will get that five second lead he needs to keep hold of the race victory. The gap between the front two right now stands at just over half a second.

An update from down the standings...
63/70
Vettel has to get his head back in the race here because he only has seven laps left to build a five second lead over Hamilton otherwise this race victory will be snatched away from him.
62/70
Vettel is still disputing the time penalty on the team radio. "They are stealing the race from us!" complains the German. "Stay focused" comes the replay back from his team.
61/70
"Have we got any more power?" says Hamilton on the team radio. He's wary of the fact that after the time penalty Vettel will be trying with everything he has got to build a strong lead. Hamilton needs to stick with the Ferrari!
60/70
Leclerc has just set a new fastest lap of 1.14.672, but between now and the end of the race it's all about the battle between Vettel and Hamilton. The gap stands at just over 2.5 seconds.

VETTEL TIME PENALTY! Wow! Vettel, the race leader, has been given a FIVE SECOND time penalty for dangerously rejoining the track after his back end locked up. He very nearly went into Hamilton. That could be huge!

It feels like the battle between Vettel and Hamilton is just building up for one last showdown in the final few laps. There's a gap of around 1.5 seconds between the two race leaders.

Magnussen is down in P18 and has just vented on the team radio. "This is the worst experience I have had in any car in any race ever." Well, that's not exactly a ringing endorsement.
