LAP 70/70 - VERSTAPPEN WINS!
A milestone win for Verstappen as he seals his 41st win to equal Ayrton Senna's record, and it is also Red Bull's 100th win in F1.
Alonso comes home in second, with Hamilton in third.
Norris battles it out with Ocon and Albon all the way into the final corner, but the McLaren has to back out of it into the chicane. Albon finishes in P7, with Ocon in 8th. A five-second penalty for Norris sees him miss out on a points finish.

LAP 68/70 - ALONSO LOOKS NAILED ON FOR P2
The pace has picked up, and Alonso is now 3.1 seconds ahead of Hamilton with three laps remaining. The top five look like they will finish as they currently line up.
Meanwhile, the battle is still on for 7th place, as Albon clings onto the position. Norris and Ocon are fighting it out right behind.

LAP 63/70 - ALONSO FINALLY TOLD TO PUSH
The Aston Martin team have relayed the information to Alonso that the gap to Hamilton behind has dropped to under two seconds, and that has given the Spaniard the license to push a bit to increase the gap.
He has responded, as the gap has now increased by five tenths in two laps.

LAP 61/70 - HAMILTON CLOSING IN!
The gap has now dropped to 1.6 seconds between Alonso and Hamilton.
Hamilton's engineer, Pete Bonnington, has just come onto the radio to tell his driver that Alonso is being forced to manage an issue with his rear brakes. That might make the Aston Martin a sitting duck, but can Hamilton get the move done with just eight laps remaining?

LAP 56/70 - HAMILTON CLOSING IN ON ALONSO
The gap now stands at just over two seconds between Alonso and Hamilton. The Spaniard, who is still running in P2, must clearly be getting told to continue to manage his tyres and his fuel consumption. His track position may be at risk.
Verstappen still leads, and he has extended his gap to 7.7 seconds.

LAP 55/70 - RUSSELL TOLD TO RETIRE THE CAR
The Mercedes driver has been told to bring the car into the pits, as there is too much brake wear on the car. This may be the result of earlier's shunt into the wall.
He becomes the second driver - after Logan Sargeant - to retire from the race.

LAP 51/70 - ALONSO STILL BEING TOLD TO MANAGE
The Aston Martin driver is still being told to lift and coast, and as a result, it is dropping him further and further behind the race leader. The gap to Verstappen is now at 6.3 seconds, and continuing to get bigger. The race victory is slipping away for the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, down the field, Albon is under pressure for his P7, as his lack of pace has seen a train develop behind him. Russell, Ocon, Bottas and Norris are now all in close proximity.
48/70
LAP 48/70 - HAMILTON CATCHING ALONSO
The Mercedes of Hamilton has taken two seconds out of Alonso on the previous lap. That has been explained by the Aston Martin running wide into the chicane in sector two.
The gap stands at 3.3 seconds. Hamilton may continue to catch Alonso, as the Aston Martin team have told their driver to continue to lift and coast to save fuel.

LAP 42/70 - ALONSO AND VERSTAPPEN PIT
Alonso, as expected, comes in to cover off the earlier pit stop by Hamilton. He comes back out over five seconds ahead of the Mercedes. Crucially, Aston Martin have put the harder compound on Alonso's car.
Red Bull then opt to bring in the race leader, as Verstappen comes in for a set of mediums. He comes back out 4.3 seconds ahead of Alonso.

LAP 39/70 - SAINZ REACTS AND PITS
Ferrari have reacted to Perez's stop and have opted to bring in Sainz for a set of medium tyres. He comes in and comes back out around 4.3 seconds ahead of the Red Bull.
His teammate, Leclerc, pits a lap later, and comes back out ahead of both of them. For once, it seems that the strategy has worked for Ferrari!

LAP 37/70 - PEREZ PITS FROM P6
The Red Bull comes in for his first stop of the afternoon, and switches onto the Medium compound. It suggests a one-stop strategy for the Red Bull. He comes back out in P8.

LAP 35/70 - BOTH DE VRIES AND MAGNUSSEN ARE OFF!
The two duel into Turn 1, with De Vries forcing Magnussen out wide into Turn 2. Russell makes the most of it lurking behind and gets past both into Turn 3.
Then, with De Vries having the inside line, the Alpha Tauri driver locks up and forces both himself and Magnussen off the track and onto the narrow escape road!
Both drivers cannot spin their cars around due to the lack of space, and are forced to reverse, costing them a lot of time!

LAP 32/70 - VERSTAPPEN COMPLAINING
Verstappen has been on the team radio twice to complain about the grip on his harder tyres. Despite that, he has extended the gap to Alonso behind him to just under five seconds.
The chances are he will have to make another pit stop before the end of the race.
26/70
LAP 26/70 - GAP AT OVER THREE SECONDS OUT IN FRONT
Alonso has put some breathing space between himself and Hamilton, and has pulled out a gap of over two seconds. He is just 3.4 seconds behind the race leader, Verstappen.
Meanwhile, the Ferrari cars have yet to box for a set of hard tyres. It seems they are trying to get the mediums far enough into the race to try the one-stop.

LAP 23/70 - ALONSO INTO SECOND!
Alonso gets past Hamilton down the back straight, and the Aston has moved into second! A big overtake in the context of the race!

LAP 19/70 - PENALTY EXPECTED FOR HAMILTON
It may be coming soon, but it is likely that race control will hand Lewis Hamilton a penalty for an unsafe release at the pit stop. We will wait and see if that happens.
Meanwhile, Norris is making up places, as he gets past Magnussen to move up into P9.

LAP 16/70 - GREEN FLAG!
The safety car has come in at the end of the lap, and we are back racing here at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve!
Verstappen opts to get the field going back to racing speed before the end of the final corner after initially backing up the field.
Verstappen leads, with Hamilton and Alonso behind. The two Ferraris are next.

LAP 15/70 - BOTH FERRARIS HAVE STAYED OUT
Leclerc and Sainz have not opted to pit, and are still on the medium tyres. It has promoted them to 4th and 5th respectively, but it is a risky strategy as they may lose out at a regular pit stop a couple of laps from now.
