Verstappen takes the chequered flag for a record-equalling ninth consecutive win on home soil. Alonso crosses the line in second while Gasly inherits the podium spot from Perez.

Sainz holds off Hamilton for fifth while Norris comes home in seventh.

There's now a bit of a distance between Verstappen and Alonso and there's no taking the home win away from the Dutchman now.

Hamilton is trying everything to get past Sainz, but the Spaniard holds firm.

The Aston Martin crew lets Alonso know of Perez penalty and advises him to not take too many risks defending.

At this point Alonso is not letting Verstappen run away with it. Perez too is within contention, but he has that five-seconds penalty pending.

Gasly is currently sitting just over two seconds behind Perez and would inherit a podium spot.

Russell can't catch a break today and drops down the order with a puncture, likely sustained in a slight coming-together with Norris.

A five-seconds penalty is coming Perez' way for speeding in the pit lane.

Alonso looked keen to challenge, but there was no beating Verstappen who holds the lead as the race gets back underway.

Things are meanwhile looking brighter for Mercedes who now have Hamilton and Russell in sixth and seventh.

The race is back underway with the drivers chasing the safety car for now.

Tyre temperatures are dropping during these slow laps.

Race direction have decided against a standing start and we will have a rolling start procedure when things get back underway.

All drivers will have to take the restart on intermediate tyres.

Race direction announce that the race will resume at 17.14 local time (16.14 BST).

The rain has stopped, but we have no news yet on when the race will be restarted.

Looking at the track, it's still wet, but the conditions have inters written all over them.

We're slowly but surely lining up for a restart in Zandvoort. Here is the order the drivers will start in; Perez gets away with one and is ranked as third, the positions he lost with his latest stop not being taken into account.

The worst of the rain looks to have passed, but it's still very wet here.

The race has been stopped due to the rain with several drivers going off track at Turn 1.

The big loser here is Perez who comes into the pits at the worst possible time and is down in sixth now.

We have a virtual safety car with heavy rain. Verstappen comes in for full-wets.

Perez touches the barrier at Turn 1 but he can continue for now. He loses second to Alonso but remains in a podium position.

Verstappen and Alonso now also come in for inters. They rejoin the track in first and third respectively, not changing the order for now.

Everyone has opted for inters with the exception of Ocon who is on full-wets - that could be the right decision here with the rain getting heavier.
