Haas have appeal to overturn United States F1 Grand Prix result rejected by stewards

Haas' appeal to have the US Grand Prix result changed has been rejected. The F1 team believed that some of their rivals exceeded track limits without sanction, and the ruling did not go in their favour. The stewards who reached the judgement did admit that the current policing is "completely unsatisfactory", while also demanding that changes be made.

Haas have had their appeal to have the result of the last month's United States Grand Prix rejected, despite stewards admitting the current policing is not up to scratch.
The F1 team, who are bottom of the Constructors' Championship, had claimed that some of their rivals had exceeded track limits without sanction.
They used on-board footage of four cars, Williams' drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, Lance Stroll from Aston Martin and Red Bull's Sergio Perez, leaving the track at turn six on numerous occasions.
However, stewards ruling over the case believed the video evidence submitted was insufficient, determining that there was "no significant and relevant new element that was unavailable to Haas," adding that CCTV footage from the track in Austin, Texas, showed that any track limit offences were "almost universally imposed."
Haas brought the review during last week's Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo, with the hearing taking place remotely on Wednesday and Thursday.
FIA representatives were present, with Williams, Red Bull and Aston Martin also summoned.
Although the appeal was rejected, the stewards did determine that current policing of track limits is "completely unsatisfactory", which Haas may consider a minor victory.
The statement continued: "The stewards find their inability to properly enforce the current standard for track limits for all competitors completely unsatisfactory and therefore strongly recommend to all concerned that a solution to prevent further reoccurrences of this widespread problem be rapidly deployed.
Given the number of different circuits where significant track limit issues arose this season, acknowledging that the FIA in conjunction with the circuits have already made significant strides, further solutions should be found before the start of the 2024 season."
The 2024 season will get underway in Bahrain on March 2. An expanded calendar will see teams participate in 24 races, with Abu Dhabi hosting the final event in December.
Before then, there are still two races left in 2023, starting with the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Sunday 18th of November.
