Michael Schumacher lived up to his fame as a master of wet conditions with the fastest time in Friday's first free practice for the Korean Formula One Grand Prix.

We'll be back in a couple of hours for the second session, in what we can expect to be better weather conditions.

So, a rainy first practice session ends with Schumacher on top, followed by Vettel, Di Resta, Sutil, Buemi, Kobayashi, Hamilton, Rosberg and Perez. Webber completes the top 10.

The flag is out but there is still time for Schumacher to edge out Vettel at the top of the timesheets with a 2m02.784s!

Webber manages to go 10th quickest before Vettel goes top of the lists with a 2m02.852s.

Button joins Hamilton in the garages as Vettel posts a 2m04.425s to move into seventh.

Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne is ninth so far, despite a wheel lock-up. He's impressed so far, the young Frenchman.

Alonso is on track and world champion Vettel follows soon after.

The weather is clearing up with the radar showing the band of rain is about to pass the circuit.

So, with 15 minutes left of the this first practice session Buemi has set the fastest lap, ahead of Kobayashi, Hamilton, Sutil and Schumacher.

Perez goes fifth fastest as more and more drivers begin to test their cars' limits in the wet.

McLaren on their Twitter feed: "Jenson's engineer Dave Robson has just confirmed that Jenson won't be running for the remainder of the session."

Schumacher and di Resta are among the drivers on track at the moment as Kobayashi improves to go second.

Buemi hits the top of the timesheets with a 2m03.182s, knocking Hamilton off his perch.

Vergne, Rosberg and Maldonado now try to clock their first times of the day.

Ricciardo and Kobayashi are also out now as Buemi clocks a 2m06.240s.

Satisfied with what he and his team have learned from the little sortie, Hamilton heads back to the McLaren garages.

On full wet tyres Hamilton clocks 2m03.391s on his second flying lap.

Chandhok and Buemi both follow Hamilton out onto the soggy track.

And it's Hamilton who posts the first time of the day - a 2m05.484s to kick things off.
