LAP 78/78: VERSTAPPEN CLAIMS VICTORY!
A fourth win of the season for Max and a 39th in total for the Dutchman at Red Bull as he overtakes Sebastian Vettel's record haul.
Over 27 seconds clear of Alonso on the famous track.
An hour and 50 minutes of dominant driving brings him his second victory in Monaco and his second in three years. He leads the championship by 39 points.
"A brilliant drive," he is told by his team. Very true.
"Very lovely that. That was a real Monaco," comments Verstappen.

LAP 75/78: OCON SET FOR FIRST PODIUM IN MONACO
Esteban Ocon is 12 seconds behind Alonso in the final podium position, but so far looks like he is doing enough to hold off the threat of Lewis Hamilton, who is a further 1.5 seconds behind in fourth. Lewis with the fastest lap of the day so far.

LAP 70/78: MAX LEAD MOVES TO 25 SECONDS
This has been another motoring masterclass from Max Verstappen. Just finalising his second career victory in Monaco. Even when the rains came, he refused to panic.
Clips a wall as he continues to test his Red Bull to the max. So to speak. His team don't see any major problems in his run for the line. He is two laps clear of his team-mate Perez.
65/78
LAP 65/78: HAMILTON IN MIX FOR THIRD
Lewis is fighting the good fight as the track slowly, but surely begins to dry up. Hamilton only one second behind Ocon in the Alpine.
63/78
LAP 63/78: STROLL RETIRES
All too much for Lance, who becomes the first driver of the day to retire. Has been an attritional afternoon, but at least the Canadian's race is run. Meanwhile, the rain is starting to ease a bit with Verstappen still in the box seat by 19 seconds.
60/78
LAP 60/78: RUSSELL PENALISED
George Russell in his Mercedes is hit with a five-second time penalty for an unsafe rejoin after connecting with Sergio Perez's Red Bull.

LAP 58/78: A FRANTIC FINISH
Kevin Magnussen was persevering with the hard tyres, but is the last man in for the full wets. Chucking it down in parts of this fabled circuit.
Top 10 with 20 laps remaining:
  • 1. Max Verstappen
  • 2. Fernando Alonso
  • 3. Esteban Ocon
  • 4. Lewis Hamilton
  • 5. George Russell
  • 6. Charles Leclerc
  • 7. Pierre Gasly
  • 8. Carlos Sainz
  • 9. Yuki Tsunoda
  • 10. Oscar Piastri

LAP 55/78: WEATHER HAVING ITS SAY
They are taking their time around Mirabeau as the rain rumbles. Verstappen pits for intermediates in the wet, unpredictable conditions. Alonso is back in for a second tyre change. Chaotic moments in Monaco as Carlos Sainz spins off at Mirabeau amid the carnage. Still 22 laps remaining. Fascinating finish.

LAP 50/78: SINGING IN THE RAIN?
At the moment, it is going to take more than a spot of drizzle to hold back Max. He's been told there could be a sprinkling on the way, but it looks like it has started tumbling down with some menace.
Meanwhile, George Russell is up to third and Esteban Ocon is in fourth.

LAP 45/78: ALONSO ASKS FOR ADVICE
The Spanish icon asking his team about threats. "What are the threats?" Well, rain is at least 15 laps away, according to Aston Martin.
He continues on his way on the hard types with Verstappen holding a lead of 9.3 seconds.

LAP 42/78: MONACO GP TOP 10
We are beyond the halfway stage and here is where we are at:
Verstappen, Alonso, Leclerc, Gasly, Russell, Ocon, Sainz, Hamilton, Tsunoda, Norris
Weather looks to be the biggest threat to the leading two.
40/78
LAP 40/78: MAX PICKS UP THE PACE
Despite being unhappy with his tyres, the world champion is back out of the traffic and on his knackered medium tyres begins to increase his lead over Alonso.
Now ahead by 8.5 seconds in his Red Bull. The benefits of keeping your head is all too clear. Verstappen should be able to pit soon and return to a nice clear track devoid of traffic.
Just what the doctor ordered in Monte Carlo.
36/78
LAP 36/78: VERSTAPPEN UNHAPPY WITH CAR
Well now. Perhaps life in the old race yet. Max Verstappen feels his car is difficult to drive at the moment on the mediums.
Red Bull keeping him out there to avoid giving Alonso the chance to take the lead. Interesting times.

LAP 34/78: VERSTAPPEN STUCK IN TRAFFIC
Which enables Alonso to close to under 10 seconds. They're estimating the gap is down to 7.5 seconds. Feels like the centre of London at points out there. Lewis Hamilton is going to head for a change of tyres for the first time in his Mercedes.
30/78
LAP 30/78 – MAX NOT HAPPY WITH LEFT TYRE!
He leads Alonso by over 10 seconds, but is signalling issues with a front tyre. Also going to lap his Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez.
He's on mediums. "Going to lose a lot of time in this traffic," he tells his team.
25/78
LAP 25/78 – MONACO GP STANDINGS
Looks a bit cloudy overhead. Could that have any effect on the race? They're expecting some drizzle on the 35th lap.
  • 1. Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
  • 2. Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)
  • 3. Esteban Ocon (Alpine)
  • 4. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari)
  • 5. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)
23/78
LAP 23/78 – MAX IN CONTROL!
This all looks very familiar with the Red Bull giving Verstappen wings.
He is nine seconds ahead of Alonso and 25 clear of Ocon in third. Not quite a procession yet, but the Dutchman is producing again when the chips are down in Monte Carlo.
Meanwhile, the Hulk handed a five-second penalty after colliding with Sargeant on lap one.
20/78
LAP 20/78 – MAGNIFICENT MAGNUSSEN
Don't see many of them on this tight, tight circuit, but Kevin Magnussen shows his class as the Haas driver scalps Logan Sargeant down the inside at Mirabeau.
Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez also float beyond the Williams in the final two corners. All happening elsewhere but normal service in the lead as Verstappen steams clear up front.
15/78
LAP 15/78 – A NASTY COLLISION
Not what you want. Sainz tries to get beyond Ocon, but paid the price as he tried to open up the race.
Top 10: Verstappen, Alonso, Ocon, Sainz, Hamilton, Leclerc, Gasly, Russell, Tsunoda, Norris
11/78
LAP 11/78 – SAINZ IN TROUBLE
Carlos Sainz hits Esteban Ocon trying to overtake.
The Spaniard has damage to the front of the Ferrari and his crew offer a new front wing, but he continues on. Is that going to ruin his day?
Perhaps Alonso went over that debris on his tyres.
