Honda unveil new livery

Honda will run its cars in a striking new livery this year in a bid to encourage Formula One fans and sponsors to take a greater interest in the fight against global warming.

The Japanese manufacturer launched its official 2007 colour scheme at London's Natural History Museum on Monday morning, which features no sponsors logos, but instead an image of the earth.
The only text featured on the car currently is the race number on the nose and the web address myearthdream.com on the rear wing, directing fans to a site where they can pledge money towards environmental charities and in return have their name featured on the car.
Team boss Nick Fry believes exposure through Formula One can help to raise awareness of the problems currently facing the environment.
Fry said: "Climate change is probably the single biggest issue facing the global community and F1 is not immune from it."
"On the contrary, we believe that F1 with its huge global profile and cutting edge technology can play an important role in not only highlighting the issues but also playing our part in developing solutions.
"In addition, [F1's governing body] the FIA recognises the opportunity for
F1 to showcase innovative technologies for the benefit of society for the long term. For example, by 2009, devices for energy recovery will be in place on the cars.
"So we at Honda F1 are proud to dedicate our car to the environmental challenge. We believe that practical solutions can stem directly from engineers working on our F1 programme."
Despite the new livery only being launched today, Honda have been running their new car for over a fortnight and will continue their pre-season testing with race drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello at Sakhir in Bahrain later this week.
