Yellow flags on track as the car is moved away from Turn 10 - but they're lifted after just three mintues.
35'
Stewards react quickly to put out the fire. No harm done, except to Heidfeld's car. That could really scupper his qualifying chances depending on the damage done to the car.

FIRE! Heidfeld's Renault is billowing flames and the German pulls to a stop and makes a very swift escape.
37'
Rosberg nips ahead of Schumacher for all of about ten seconds before Webber smashes the previous bests with a 1:24.7. Vettel has joined him on course, but we've yet to see anything meaningful for Renault or Ferrari.
38'
First sign of the Red Bulls - Webber is out on track and looks very quick.
39'
Schumacher assumes the lead after a 1:26.599. Meantime Karthikeyan is having a rough time in the HRT - his KERS isn't working properly and he is continually locking up the tyres. The 107% qualifying cut-off point looming very large over his team today.

Now the times are starting to drop - Kobayashi puts in a 1:27.826 - that's a bit more like it. Bear in mind that these appear to be stints on harder tyres, so some way short of the pace you can expect in qualifying.
41'
Top spot for a Force India - Paul di Resta with a 1:30.120.
42'
Petrov takes around half a second off Trulli's best to sit top of the timesheets for now, Button not appeared on the radar just yet.
43'
Karthikeyan through in the HRT some way short of Trulli's time, Liuzzi a little quicker than his team-mate but also behind Trulli.
44'
Grip issues for Trulli there, especially towards the end of his lap. It's taken a while for tyres to warm up here. Track temperature currently 27C, but it will be significantly warmer by the qualifying session this afternoon.
45'
To give you some sense of Trulli's speed, yesterday the top time from Webber was a 1:22.470 - so there's some way to go. Perhaps Petrov and Button, who've both just set out, will move things along.

Trulli sweeps around the course all alone, posting the first time of the day - a 1:30.924.

Jarno Trulli ventures out onto the circuit! The Lotus cars are ones to watch because they're hoping for a significant improvement in performance this weekend - but they didn't show it yesterday.
49'
The track is completely empty for the time being. Talk amongst yourselves.
50'
Very little in the way of action to report - still no sign of a completed lap here in Spain.
52'
And Hamilton makes a trip off the circuit as well! Again - a very minor incident on cold tyres, and he's back on track in no time.
53'
Whoops! Nico Rosberg misses a chicane and goes straight across it - he's back in the pits safely enough though.
54'
Big news from overnight - Ferrari, testing a new rear wing, won't get much further with it - FIA have declared it illegal!
55'
If you missed out yesterday on the practice sessions, the day was dominated by testing upgrade packages. Will Gray, our resident F1 blogger, breaks down what the teams were trying to achieve here.

Predictably there are no lap times to record here. Alonso, the home hero, already firmly ensconced back in the pits.
