Ricardo Risatti will make his GP2 Series debut at Istanbul Park this weekend after sealing a one-off outing with the Trident team.
The 20-year-old Argentine, who currently races in the Renault World Series standings, will replace Monaco race-winner Pastor Maldonado after the latter broke his collarbone in a mountain biking accident last week.
"I'm very motivated and excited," said Risatti. "This opportunity, which came by surprise, can with no doubt be a decisive turning point in my career.
"I'll have to do my best on an unknown track, but I'm sure I'll find a professional team that will allow me to concentrate on the driving part.
"I already tested a GP2 car during this winter, but I'll have to get used to it again, since my current ride is quite different."
Risatti had been set to race full-time with BCN this year before the deal fell through at the last minute, and they might wish they had signed him as they too have been forced into a driver change for this weekend.
Finn Markus Niemela, who himself only made his debut in Hungary, dislocated his shoulder on his debut in the race and will be replaced by his countryman Henri Karjalainen.
Karjalainen, 20, finished fourth in last year's Asian Formula Renault championship with one win and tasted victory five times this year on his way to second place in the Asian Formula Three championship.
