Russia win gold

World Champions Russia beat Romania by a single goal to take gold in the women's GF handball World Cup in Aarhus, Denmark, by a score of 29-28.
The Russians spread their goals more effectively around the team, Ekaterina Andryushina with seven their top scorer as a total of ten players made their way onto the score-sheet.
Romania, in contrast, had only six scorers, though Valentina-Neli Ardean-Elisei scored ten and Oana Andreea Manea seven.
Russia were losing 15-13 at half-time and almost constantly behind throughout the second half. They took the lead with six minutes to play and hung on for the victory.
In the bronze medal match, hosts Denmark easily beat Ukraine 24-20, Henriette Mikkelsen and Nataliya Lyapina top-scoring with eight and seven respectively for the winners and losers.
