Jockey Eddie Ahern has lost his appeal against a 10-year ban for three breaches of BHA rules for corruption.
The 35-year-old was found guilty of conspiring to commit a corrupt or fraudulent practice along with owner Neil Clement at a BHA disciplinary hearing on Wednesday. Clement, a former professional footballer, was banned for 15 years and fined £3,000.
Clement placed a large bet laying horse Judgethemoment (betting on it doing badly) at a race in Lingfield, which was ridden suspiciously poorly by his personal friend Ahern.
Ahern, 35, claimed the bad ride was coincidental, but the BHA ruled it was an act of corruption, handing the jockey a 10-year ban that effectively ends his career.
