Valyra wins French Oaks

Beauty Parlour had taken over from Kissed at the front with over a furlong out, leaving a comfortable margin between herself and the rest of the pack.

But the late dash of Valyra, ridden by Johnny Murtagh, cut down the gap before sealing a dramatic win for the outsider of Aga Khan's three runners.

The 25-1 shot, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, displayed great stamina as Murtagh's patience paid off with early front-runner Kissed fading late on.

Parlour earned success at the Pouliches earlier in the season but was denied a Classic double by the late surge.
