Olympic champion Felix Loch put a slow start to the season behind him by winning both men’s singles and sprint gold at the Luge World Cup in Calgary.
Germany's usual dominance has been challenged at the start of this year by the Americans, with Chris Mazdzer notably topping the podium at Lake Placid and Park City.
But Loch followed up his singles victory, having finished three tenths of a second ahead of Mazdzer, with success in the sprint.
His effort of 30.091seconds gave him a comfortable buffer over Russia's Roman Repilov and Austria's Wolfgang Kindl, who finished in 30.279s and 30.329s respectively.
It sees Loch soar up to third in the men's singles standings, behind Kindl and Mazdzer, and the German admits the overriding emotion was one of relief.
"It's a really good feeling," Loch said. "Now I can relax a little. I know my sled is really good and in the training I was really fast."
