World Championship leader Julian Simon went fastest in free practice for the 125cc German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring before a torrential storm arrived halfway through.

The storm blew over within 15 minutes, but the track was soaked - allowing only wet weather laps until the end of the session.
The early dry pace of Simon was therefore never under threat and the Spaniard's best of a minute, 28.594 seconds remained 0.671s clear of KTM's Marc Marquez.
Simon's Aspar Aprilia team-mate and title rival Bradley Smith jumped forward to third just before the rain arrived, with Nicolas Terol fourth and the final rider within a second of Simon.
After being released from his contract with the absent Haojue team, Michael Ranseder finished 28th on his debut with the CBC Corse Aprilia team.
Former team-mate Matt Hoyle is yet to find an alternative ride.
