Lilja edges Campani in Mugello race one

Lilja and Italian Campani, both driving Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluziones, played out a fascinating duel at the track in Tuscany but it was the Swede who emerged victorious to maintain his lead in both championships.

Polesitter Emanuele Moncini held his position after the lights went out, but soon after the start Lilja surprised him at the San Donato curve.

The battle between the two frontrunners continued for several laps until Lilja took over the lead and went on to win by the smallest of advantage: less than half a second.

The first six laps were most interesting, thanks to the exciting progression of Campani, who started from fifth position on the grid. Campani overtook Moncini to claim second while his brother Maurizio Campani ended in third. Moncini had to settle for fourth.
