HARLEQUINS BOUNCE BACK IN FINE STYLE AGAINST WASTEFUL CHIEFS
Harlequins held on to surprise Exeter Chiefs with a 22-14 victory in a definitive game of two halves, with both sides playing some blockbuster attacking rugby but lacking accuracy at times.
Exeter were the talk of the Gallagher Premiership after their record-breaking demolition of Saracens in round 1, but were undone by innaccuracy against a determined Harlequins on a golden afternoon at the Stoop.
Leading 19-7 after a breakneck, breathless first half, Exeter dominated possession in the second 40 minutes but couldn’t reduce the lead until Dan Frost snuck over with just moments left.
And though Henry Slade’s perfect conversion gave them a shot at glory with the last possession of the game, Harlequins captain secured an inspired turnover to confirm Harlequins’ first win of the season and deny Chiefs a losing bonus point.
Even worse for Rob Baxter was an injury to Josh Hodge, the hat-trick hero against Saracens limped off after less than half an hour at the Stoop and was later spotted with his left arm in a sling.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: ALEX DOMBRANDT
The Quins captain got the match-winning moment there, and was rightly rewarded with the player of the match. Dombrandt may not be so grateful for that though, looking shattered as he puffed his way through the resulting post-game interview on TNT Sports:
"I think we were really pleased with that first half, three lineouts in the red zone and in terms of being ruthless and relentless like we talked about, we're happy with that.
"They’ve got some dangerous runners and we knew if they made any mistakes we had to kill them.
"We’ve had some changes in our caoching staff, a lot of new players come in and this preseason’s just been about carrying on our DNA but adding bits and pieces to give us an all-court game."

FULL-TIME: HARLEQUINS 22-14 EXETER
It's a cruel twist of the knife for Exeter as Will Edwards' kick sails over, but they'll be kicking themselves for not taking any chances before that point.
It's a crash back to earth for the visistors, but they're a young team and showed plenty of promise, but how about Harlequins? It's already looking like we're set up for a cracking Gallagher Premiership season on TNT Sports and discovery+.

PENALTY!!!
ALEX DOMBRANDT TAKE A BOW! The Quins captain with a huge turnover as the clock turns red, and the gosts have almost certainly won it.
But they opt to kick for goal and attempt to take the bonus point away from Exeter...

INCHES AWAY
Will Haydon-Wood had ghosted through the middle there and found Henry Slade, but the veterans offload goes to ground and Quins clear it upfield! Match-defining moment?

EXETER PENALTY
Huge call at the scrum, Els couldn't cope and Exeter have it up near halfway.

QUINS HIT BACK
Joseph cut a wondrous arc around the left corner of the Chiefs line before Green impossibly snatched his offload. But Quins rush off their feet at the next ruck and Exeter have the ball back.

TRY! HARLEQUINS 19-14 EXETER
The maul went down but Exeter couldn't be denied, Dan Frost getting over the line with a hair-raisingly brave dummy and dive.
And it's a brilliant conversion from Slade to narrow the defecit to just five.

CAN EXETER SCORE?
Exeter have another penalty, and have taken the lineout right in coffin corner after an extraordinarily long mothers' meeting even by rugby standards.

EXETER PENALTY
Northmore was down clutching his ankle but seems to have sprung back into action.
Slick hands from Kerrod set him loose, but set him loose in isolation and Chiefs pump the resulting penalty into Quins' 22.

EXETER KNOCK ON...
...Again. Chiefs have been bright again in this second half with plenty of line breaks, but just haven't been able to string the necessary phases together and turn that screw.
In other news, Hodge has just been picked out with his left arm in a sling on the Exeter bench.

MURPHY'S LAW
So what does Wyatt do after that praise? Shank a 50-22 attempt straight out to give Harlequins a lineout on Exeter's 10m line.
Billy Millard is ringing the changes, Dino Lamb replaces Hammond after his Italian World Cup service, alongside Green and Beard for Porter and Lynagh.
Exeter's Vermeulen also makes way, Vintcent is his replacement.

MAKING HEADWAY
Wyatt has been mightily impressive so far, he takes about three milliseconds to go from full-speed to stationary and back again, and he's given Exeter front-foot ball in home territory now.

QUINS REBUILD... OR NOT
The hosts have barely shown anything in the second half and that continues, as they knock-on in the opposition half after going through the phases.
For the Chiefs, impressive pair Tuima and Cairns are off for Davis and Armstrong.

REPLACEMENTS
There's been a few changes in the second half for both front rows, Bill Keast and Dan Frost replace Sio and Yeandle for Exeter, and for Quins Riley and Collier make way for Jibulu and Kerrod.

INCHES AWAY
Quins' maul goes down but they're just recyling the ball through the forwards here as the phase counter ticks towards 10...

CHARGE DOWN!
It's been an uncharacteristically quiet game for Joe Launchbury so far but no longer, he expertly charges down Skinner and Quins don't take their foot off the throat, Lynagh brought down 5 metres out before a desperate Exeter concede the ruck penalty.
