THE TOM PENNY SHOW
Penny looked like he'd knocked-on there but is given a reprieve by the referee, and nearly takes full advantage.
Receiving the ball in space, he looke to stand up Fin Smith with a smart step, but the Saint barely holds on and his forwards arrive to snuff out the danger.

NEWCASTLE TAKE THE LEAD
Falcons earned the scrum penalty and Connon is inch-perfect again to regain the lead. Newcastle hold on to clear the restart too this time around.

BACK TO SCHOOL
Hamish Smales isn't happy with the front rows and has called them in for the first lecture of the day on pre-engagement.
It's days like this that synthetic turf is a blessing, Kingston Park would be a quagmire right now if the pitch was still mud and grass.

THAT'S MORE LIKE IT
That's the first time Radwan's got the ball in any kind of space and one thing's clear - Northampton are terrified.
Saints try to double-team him but that frees Iwan Stephens on the outside, who goes for the biggest break of the game. Connon's mis-hit cross-field kick halts that momentum though and we're back to playing between the 10m lines.

ONE FOR THE PURISTS
We've not seen the phase counter pop up on TNT Sports' coverage so far, it's been that kind of game.

LIVE FROM WIMBLEDON
There's going to be plenty of kick tennis today, and we get another rally there won by Northampton.
Iwan Stephens is thrilling with ball in hand but kicks it out on the full before Saints drop their own lineout and Newcastle pump the penalty up to the 22.

SAINTS LEVEL IT
Sam Stuart wants that one back. One of five changes for Newcastle today, the scrum half fumbles it under no pressure in his own 22 and Saints win the scrum penalty and Fin Smith makes no mistake to level it.

IN THE DRIVING SEAT
Newcastle struggled last week with following up points with a solid reset, and that's the case here. They concede the lineout before Tom James puts a great kick into the Falcons' coffin corner.

KICK IS GOOD
That wasn't the easiest shot for the Falcons 10 but he makes no mistake and Newcastle take the lead!

CAN DER WALT
Philip van der Walt has been everywhere so far for Falcons, putting his all into kick chases which makes him a valuable asset on a day like today.
Newcastle just claimed another penalty under the high ball and Brett Connon's lining up a shot at goal

ALL FOR NOTHING
7 minutes in, 0 points, 2 basic errors in the opposition 22. It's been that kind of game in the pouring rain in Newcastle, and Northampto prepare for a scrum under their own posts.

SCRUM PENALTY
Newcastle had a tough time of it at set-piece against Gloucester but they draw first blood at the scrum as Ethan Waller went straight to ground.
And Falcons are going for it, taking a lineout 10m away from Saints' line.

FALCONS HOLD FIRM
Saints went through the phases there after Fin Smith's enterprising break off the scrum but it all comes to nought when Curtis Langdon concedes a penalty with ball in hand.
The Northampton centres have been looking to get involved early but that wasn't such a good thing a few seconds later when Rory Hutchinson booted a turnover past the dead ball line.
3'
KNOCK-ON
Its been a tetchy start after the big build-up, both sides taking to the air before Newcastle knocked on in their own half.

NEWCASTLE EMBRACING TRUE NORTH
TNT Sports' Ali Eykyn caught up with Newcastle head coach Alex Codling ahead of this one, in a really eye-opening interview.
He's really buying into the 'True North' identity for this Falcons side, and had the team playing Newcastle-themed Monopoly in pre-season to improve their link to the community.
For me it’s a huge opportunity, a club with a huge history and a passionate fanbase and we’ve got some really talented youngsters. We’re a rugby outpost."

FALCONS FLIER BRINGS UP CENTURY
Today marks Adam Radwan's 100th game for Newcastle Falcons' Adam Radwan and what a century it's been.
Encompassing 52 tries and his England debut, he wasn't taken to France but that gave him chance to bag yet another score last week despite the driving rain.
It underlined what most fans already knew - he's deadly everywhere in any conditions, and he should fancy his chances against a leaky Northampton defence.
But Saints will be wary of devoting too many resources to stopping Radwan - keep an eye on the dangerous Elliott Obatoyinbo and Iwan Stephens in the back three as well.
