IRELAND LAY DOWN A MARKER
Ireland have been a top, top side for a few years now, but this was a huge test of their World Cup credentials, and they passed with flying colours.
Check out our match report from a famous evening in Paris:

IRELAND REACH THE QUARTERS
The whistle goes to end a statement Ireland performance in Paris. The first half was particularly impressive as Scotland were put to the sword by a clinically brilliant Irish team in-front of tens of thousands of travelling fans in green. A quarter-final against New Zealand awaits, while Scotland depart the tournament at the group stage and will lick their wounds after what has been a bit of a battering tonight.

TRY DENIED
Bealham thinks he’s scored a final Irish try, but there’s a knock-on in the build-up and the game goes back to a scrum.

IRELAND GO FOR THE CORNER
It’s a real flex as Ireland kick for the corner in the dying moments of the game.

IRELAND RELENTLESS
It must be so demoralising to play Ireland. Most of the stats would normally suggest this scoreline should be the other way, and yet Ireland have never looked like the team out of control. They are happy to defend for long periods, content to exploit breakdown after breakdown, and are ruthless when they do get into opposition territory. It’s going to be so interesting to see if the All Blacks can find a way through this superb Irish team.

THE FINE MARGINS
Scotland have had plenty of the ball tonight and have tried some decent things, but they just haven’t been able to convert opportunities into meaningful contributions (until the last few minutes at least). Some of the credit must go to the brilliance of Ireland’s defensive execution, and there hasn’t been much luck going Scotland’s way either.

TRY! IRELAND 36-14 SCOTLAND
It’s another quickfire try for Scotland as a fizzing move sees the Irish defensive line carved open by Jones and Price finishes it off under the posts. Russell adds the conversion.

CONVERSION! IRELAND 38-7 SCOTLAND
Russell adds the two points, but it’s just consolation at this stage.

TRY! IRELAND 36-5 SCOTLAND
Something for Scotland fans to cheer as Ashman breaks through a tackle out wide and bursts towards the line to get some points on the board for the boys in blue.

TRY! IRELAND 36-0 SCOTLAND
An exquisite Crowley crossfield kick finds Ringrose in space and he picks the ball out of the air and touches down to add yet more gloss to this dominant scoreline. The conversion isn't made but Ireland will be happy enough.

PRIDE FROM SCOTLAND
An extended spell of Scottish possession is an indicator that they’re not going to bow out of this tournament quietly, but the writing is on the wall.

CH-CH-CHANGES
A roar goes around the ground as Ireland flex their muscles and make five consecutive changes in the forward line. That’s a real statement, and it’s clever too, keeping their squad sharp and as fresh as you can in such a tournament environment.

TRY! IRELAND 31-0 SCOTLAND
Ireland take advantage of the extra man, stretch the play, and Sheehan crosses in the corner. Sexton misses the conversion.

YELLOW CARD
Smith goes to the bin for a trip that the officials say started everything, which is true of sorts, but I’m sure the Scots will have some thoughts.

TEMPERS FRAY
Both teams are at each other’s throats for a remarkably long time, with players tumbling over hoardings, strong words being said and the officials watching on intently.

AWAY WE GO AGAIN!
Scotland get the game back underway, looking for a miracle.
