Amedeo Bagnis makes history with first Italian victory in Skeleton World Cup men's race at St Moritz

It was a history-making day Amedeo Bagnis, who became the first-ever Italian man to win a men's skeleton race. It is Italy's most significant achievement in the sport since Nino Bibbia took gold at the 1948 Winter Olympics. The podium was completed by Germany's Christopher Grotheer and South Korea's Seunggi Jung. The World Cup continues in Lillehammer, Norway later this month.
Amedeo Bagnis became the first Italian man to win a Skeleton World Cup race with victory in St Moritz.
It is Italy's biggest achievement in the skeleton since Nino Bibbia's Olympic gold on the historic Cresta Run back in 1948.
World Championship silver medallist Bagnis ended the long wait for success at the same venue, prevailing by 0.52 seconds in the fourth World Cup race of the season.
Olympic champion Christopher Grotheer of Germany won silver with bronze going to Seunggi Jung of Korea.
Seunggi leads the overall World Cup standings with 827 points.
