Janine Flock produced a stunning final run to win her third European skeleton gold in Innsbruck, delighting the home crowd with one of the best performances of her career.
The Austrian, who also won gold in 2014 and 2016, was fastest after the first run before recovering from a poor start to edge out Russia's Elena Nikitina and Germany's Jacqueline Loelling.
Flock was almost 0.3s down on Nikitina after a poor start but she managed to storm back, clocking 1:48.64 to win by 0.43s.
Tina Hermann took fourth for Germany, ahead of Great Britain's Laura Deas in fifth at the event – which doubled up as a World Cup contest.
In the men's event, Latvia's Martins Dukurs won a tenth European Championships thanks to a pair of flawless runs to beat South Korea's Yun Sungbin by just 0.28s.
Germany's Axel Jungk was third overall, enough for European silver, while Russia's Alexander Tretiakov took home the bronze.
