Home favourite Katharina Althaus made ground on World Cup leader Eva Pinkelnig after winning in Willingen on Saturday.
The German jumper improved on a third-best first leap of 133m to take the top spot in the first of two events at the Muhlenkopfschanze.
The Olympic silver medallist is now 151 points behind Austria's Pinkelnig in the race for the Crystal Globe, after the 34-year-old endured a disappointing afternoon.
Pinkelnig was ranked eighth after Round 1 and slipped to tenth with a combined total of 210.2, trailing Althaus by 54.2 points.
Slovenia's Ema Klinec took second with a total of 256.3, her third silver in as many weeks, but may be disappointed after sitting top with a well-executed first jump of 137.5m.
Japanese athlete Sara Takanashi earned her first podium of the season ahead of compatriots Yuki Ito and Nozomi Maruyama in fourth and fifth respectively.
The second Willingen World Cup event continues on Sunday morning, commencing at 11:45am CET.
