Ali Carter takes two-frame lead after first session of German Masters final

Ali Carter leads Anthony Hamilton 5-3 at the conclusion of the first session of the German Masters final in Berlin.

Carter, a 2013 winner of the German Masters, opened up a three-frame advantage in a scrappy opening to the showpiece final.
However, Hamilton, who shocked 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham to reach a first ranking final in 15 years, dug in to take the next two to cut the arrears.
Breaks of 100 and 54 re-opened a three-frame advantage for 37-year-old Carter but Hamilton put together a run of 56 in the final frame of the session to ensure that he stays in touch.
