The world’s leading players have travelled to Daqing in China for the event, and many were in action on Sunday.
Trump set the early standard with a phenomenal performance that featured a half century in all six frames.
Meanwhile, home favourite Ding Junhui came out on top of an all-Chinese match-up against Chen Zhe, winning 6-3, and will be joined in round two by plenty of compatriots.
Zhao Xintong beat Matthew Stevens 6-2, Zhang Yong saw off Alan McManus 6-3 in one of the biggest upsets of the day, and Liang Wenbo beat Adam Duffy. In two other all-Chinese matches, Yu Delu beat Lu Haotian and Yan Bingtao saw off Wang Yuchen.
Other headline results from Sunday saw Ali Carter beat Andrew Higginson 6-3, Mark Selby cruise past Ashley Hugill 6-1, Neil Robertson beat Gary and John Higgins beat Elliot Slessor 6-1.
However, possibly the biggest story of the day emerged away from the tables, with Ronnie O’Sullivan claiming that he could be thrown out of the tournament for wearing trainers rather than shoes.
