Anthony McGill stunned Welsh Open champion John Higgins in the first round of the Players Championship on Wednesday as he beat his fellow Scot 6-0.
A low-scoring affair saw just four breaks of 50 or over, three to McGill and one to Higgins, with not a single ton.
Higgins, who reached three ranking event semi-finals this season as well as winning the Indian Open, looked out of form when he was on the table.
By contrast McGill took his chances when they were presented and gave Higgins little to work with.
McGill will now face Shaun Murphy in the quarter-finals.
In the other match a sensational start saw four centuries from the opening six frames as Judd Trump and Stephen Maguire gave the crowd plenty of excitement in Wales.
The pair had two centuries each as they shared those frames and they exchanged the seventh and eighth to get to 4-4.
Trump’s snooker beat Maguire in the ninth as the latter swatted away the balls having left a free ball on.
And a break of 76 in the 10th gave Trump victory which sets him up with a clash against Neil Robertson.
