Welcome back to Eurosport's live coverage of the 2022 World Snooker Championship as we move through the final set of Round 2 matches. Today we have the last two matches get underway, starting with the early session, as John Higgins faces Noppon Saengkham and Stuart Bingham plays Kyren Wilson. Plus Judd Trump and Neil Robertson resume their respective matches.

John Higgins is on the brink of the last eight

Welcome to Crucible school. Earlier today Noppon was celebrating as he won the final three frames to escape level from a morning session in which he'd been dominated. John was less than chuffed with himself, but put that right in emphatic fashion tonight. That was a chastening evening for Noppon, who played poorly to lose seven in a row and very nearly had the ignomy of losing them all. That final frame he nicked looks likely to be a glancing blow on the way down, as John was in imperious form and has established a huge lead in the match. When they resume tomorrow he'll need just two more to reach the quarterfinals.

Higgins 11-5 Saengkham

It's there! Noppon rolls it in and points to the sky in triumph. He misses the blue soon after but John concedes the frame, and that's the end of the session.

Higgins 11-4 Saengkham (38-60)

The final two reds are negotiated but Noppon calculated what remained a little too late, and he will need the brown that John put safe earlier. He's dropped in behind it though and it's on down the rail to the yellow pocket...

There's a lifeline here for Noppon as John leaves him a cut on a red to the bottom right; that goes, and he's on the pink. The reds are all there for him and, one by one, he begins picking them off.

The reds are spread nicely and although the black is tied up, John can make hay and the blue and pink. On 38 though he loses the white and he's not on either, and plays safe back to baulk. Can Noppon avoid the whitewash and nick this last frame?

It's the final frame of the session, and Noppon throws the cue at a long red to the bottom left. It spits out, and there's no mercy from John as he cuts back a difficult red into the yellow pocket and he's away again.

John secures his second century of the evening, a round ton. That's seven frames in a row, and he is coasting to the quarterfinals.

A made plant takes John to 61, and he's not far away now. This has been a brutal session for Noppon, with the limit of his ambition now reduced to avoiding the shutout.

John reaches 30, then retrieves a few sloppy positional shots in a row with a mid-range red to the bottom right to land on the black. This looks for all the world like it's going to be seven frames in a row, because there are still several reds in the wide open.

There's better news for Noppon at the start of frame 15, as he lays a snooker that forces a miss from John and then leaves a simple red on to the bottom right. It's a chance, and he pots a superb black using the extended spider thereafter. The next time he takes on the black though he misses it to the bottom right, and what a chance he's handed John here.

On the other table Stuart Bingham now leads Kyren Wilson 8-6.

Higgins 10-4 Saengkham

Noppon looked like he might have found a turning point there, but you can't look gift horse like that in the mouth. John does what he does, and takes the frame on the black. That little series of twists might have effectively decided this match.

Higgins 9-4 Saengkham (38-58)

Yikes, what a miss from Noppon. On frame ball red to the yellow pocket he tries to launch it in with the rest and go back for the blue. It rattles out, and he's left it for John. Both remaining reds disappear with colours and if John can pot the colours off their spots, this one will sting Noppon.

Higgins 9-4 Saengkham (25-45)

After a rare safety exchange John gets a look at a red to the right middle, but he can't drop it in and it's a chance for Noppon. He's quickly on 32 and counting, by far his best break of the evening so far. With what's available reds-wise he should be able to put this frame to bed and stop the rampaging John.

Higgins 9-4 Saengkham (25-13)

My word, John's raging with himself here. On 25 and cruising he tries to flick a red away from the black when potting the pink, and the white ends up on the bottom cushion on nothing. That wasn't a shot John needed to play, and in trying to overcomplicate things it's ended his break.

Higgins 9-4 Saengkham (6-13)

This is better from Noppon, as he drains a bullet straight long red to land on the pink. He could really do with a substantial visit here, both for his short-term confidence and his prospects in this match. Again though it breaks down early and he missed a red to the bottom left on 13 after trying to force it with little angle to work with. He's struggling out there, and doesn't John know it; he immediately pots a red in reply and explodes the pack open off the blue. They've fallen nicely, and this already looks ominous.

Higgins 9-4 Saengkham

John was visibly angry when he let a three-frame lead slip this morning, and you wouldn't like him when he's angry. A break of 69 makes it five frames in a row.

Elsewhere, Stuart Bingham leads Kyren Wilson 7-5.

Higgins 8-4 Saengkham (49-4)

Noppon's soon in bother again as he leaves a red on long over the bottom left. John picks it off and a later shot when potting the black sees the cue ball stun into the cluster and split them perfectly. That's surely the frame, and Noppon is in serious trouble now in this match.

Higgins 8-4 Saengkham (25-4)

We're back, and it's another brief visit for Noppon who makes just four after John misses a long red by a huge way. John then gets in and looks likely to score heavily again, until he makes a rare error and misses a black off its spot. He's not left anything, but Noppon will be relieved there.

It's a clean sweep of the mini-session for John, who restricted Noppon to just 18 points there.

Higgins 7-4 Saengkham (64-0)

Noppon goes all out for a long red, misses, and leaves it on to the bottom left. John tidies up red-yellow-red to leave Noppon needing snookers, but there's some easy ones still out there so this one is over.

A loose couple of shots from John eventually force him to take a cut on a red from mid-range. He catches it far too thin, and his break stalls on 60. With 75 left on Noppon returns to the table, marooned in baulk.

Higgins 7-4 Saengkham (49-0)

John's break reaches 33 as he goes into the reds off the black. They split nicely but he's nailed to one of them; no matter, as he drops a deadweight long red into the green pocket to hold for the blue! That should be a frame-winner, and he has utterly bossed this mini-session.

Noppon plays a poor safety at the start of frame 12, leaving John a mid-range red to the bottom left that's just off straight. John absolutely creams it in to hold for the blue; there's a nice spread on and John is away again. He looks in fearsome mood tonight.

John mops up the remaining reds, and he's won three quick frames on the spin.

Higgins 6-4 Saengkham (58-9)

Poor shot selection from Noppon sees his break end on nine when he lands behind the blue. His safety is poor too; he's left a red to the right middle, which is frame ball, and John sweeps it in.

Higgins 6-4 Saengkham (57-7)

It's 50 for the frame as the blue disappears, and with all seven reds left in the open the frame looks an absolute formality. What start to the evening this is from John, we've been going just over 45 minutes. As I type that however, John loses the white and he's only left with a brutally tough cut on the black, which he turns down and can only play a containing safety. Noppon fires back, billiards-style, by playing a red into the left middle off the pink and he's got a chance.

Higgins 6-4 Saengkham (26-0)

Another beautifully cued long red by John drops into the bottom right at the start of frame 11. He can only make 20 from the chance though as a trip into the pack leaves him welded to a red and on nothing. It's all running for John though as he fortuitously leaves nothing after a poor safety, and then Noppon leaves him a tap-in to the bottom left.

John was frustrated at letting his lead slip earlier today, and has arrived here in determined mood tonight. This is the second of two quick frames, and he wins it with a break of 125. He looks in great nick, and Noppon will need to slow this down or the match could slip away from him very quickly.

Higgins 5-4 Saengkham (50-1)

The yellow brings up a half-century for John, who looks very sharp so far tonight. He'll probably need one tickle of five reds near the pink spot to get this done in one go, but he's got the white on a leash here.

Higgins 5-4 Saengkham (31-1)

Noppon thuds in a long red to the bottom right, but can't do likewise with the blue to the bottom left and he's handed a chance to John. He reaches 31 by driving in the black and stunning into the pack; three reds have come into play, and this break is looking promising.

A total of 36 for John extends his lead.

Higgins 4-4 Saengkham (73-8)

John makes sure of the frame with the fourth to last red, and then the black puts it beyond doubt. There are more points coming.

Higgins 4-4 Saengkham (44-8)

This is a touch for Noppon. John tries a red to right middle, screwing off the pack to hold for the black, but he's missed the pot and it's a chance to counter. Noppon's break ends on eight though as he misses a red to right middle, and that's surely served this frame up for John.

Higgins 4-4 Saengkham (21-0)

John's off to a flier, draining a long red into the bottom right and holding for the black. An early trip into the pack leaves awkward cueing on a red to right middle but he drops it in to land on the blue. A made plant on two reds to the bottom right keeps him ticking over, and this is an impressive start.

Once again it's best of 17, as Noppon battled back earlier today from 4-1 down to split the morning session. He's had some big wins at the Crucible, over Shaun Murphy and Luca Brecel, and pumped his fist in the air in delight at the end of the session. John is unlikely to be too flustered, having seen pretty much all you can see at the Crucible, so we're in for a fascinating session here.

Judd Trump takes a commanding lead

It was a scrappy session between these two, but Judd Trump found enough moments of quality at crucial junctures to take it 6-2 and establish a daunting four-frame lead ahead of the denouement of this match tomorrow. Anthony has been to the well many times at the Crucible before, and will need to do so again to make a contest of it.

Trump 10-6 McGill

A double kiss on a safety by Anthony hands a simple pot on the final red to Judd, and that'll be it; a swift nine points later the session is over.

Trump 9-6 McGill (56-29)

The final three reds are all near the left rail. Trump gets two down with colours, but misses the final red, which is now frame ball, long to the yellow pocket. Anthony's still in this one, and these are a big 35 points.

Trump 9-6 McGill (42-29)

It looks like it's a frame-wining chance, until Judd has to bridge high over a red to pot another and loses position on the black as a result. That's a reprieve for Anthony, who then digs in a good long red to give himself a chance. He's showing some amount of grit here, but on 28 he misses a red to the bottom left and he's left a chance for Judd.

Trump 9-6 McGill (12-1)

Judd cues a long red to the bottom right all wrong, and it flies around the table before sitting up over the same pocket for Anthony. He can only jab it in using the spider so he can't get on a colour, but has a better chance at a red with the rest a few shots later. Anthony doesn't look comfortable on it though and rattles it out, allowing Judd to make a plant on two reds to the bottom left. The yellow follows, but then Judd overcuts a red to the bottom right and leaves it there. It's a chance for Anthony, but what a shocker he then has; in trying to make a plant to pick the red off he underhits it, and doesn't go in! Judd has a real chance make hay now.

Trump 9-6 McGill

On 79 a century looks certain until Judd gets a brutal kick and loses position on the black. He can't convert the green but he's comfortably got enough for the frame, and extends his lead.

Trump 8-6 McGill (61-0)

He's racing through this break, but a canon on one red goes awry and Judd is forced to go up for the blue. Bah! The frame will be done very shortly barring a shocking miss though, so Judd will have the lead overnight.

Trump 8-6 McGill (32-0)

Anthony goes so close to cutting in a red as a shot to nothing at the start of frame 15, but misses the pot and leaves the red for Judd. Retribution is swift, as Judd drains the red, gets quickly into his break and affects a superb split on the pack off the black. These have fallen very nicely indeed; the pink has gone up the table and he'll need to utilise the black. So far, it's four reds and blacks.

Trump 8-6 McGill

He sure can! It's not quite the ton as he misses the final red, but a 97 from Anthony stops the run of frames against him and closes the gap.

On the other table Neil Robertson has taken the final frame of the day, and trails Jack Lisowski 9-7.

Trump 8-5 McGill (1-53)

It's a half-century for Anthony, at a crucial juncture in the match. He's taken these very nicely indeed, can he hold his nerve here and take this out in one hit?

Trump 8-5 McGill (1-17)

Anthony might need all of his battling moxie to hang in here, because that's three in a row for Judd who could pull away here. Frame 14 opens with a stunning long red from Judd, who then has to play the black to bottom left with the cue ball tight to the rail. He can't drop it in, and he's left a chance for Anthony. This is a big visit

Trump 8-5 McGill

It swings the way of Judd, as he doubles the final red and then drains a long pink. The yellow and a showboat green follow, and out of nothing he's won the frame!

On the other table, Lisowski now leads Robertson 9-6.

Trump 7-5 McGill (48-27)

Anthony pots red-yellow-red, but chuckles are abound as he accidentally puts another red safe. All six colours are off their spots, in reasonably safe positions and with two reds remaining. Judd moves further ahead with red-pink, but we could be some time sorting htis one out yet as the frame ticks over the 30 minute mark.

Trump 7-5 McGill (41-23)

Judd makes seven, Anthony makes 14, but neither man can make a chance stick in this frame. To hammer that point home, Anthony then drops a tough red in the right middle and misses an easy pink.

Trump 7-5 McGill (34-8)

Another one has gone scrappy, as Trump loses position and we get meshed down in safety play again. There are seven reds left but five are clustered near the bottom cushion, and it's an awkward table.

Trump 7-5 McGill (23-8)

We're back, and Antony immediately cedes five points when catching the blue first on a safety. After a few more minutes of safety play, he then gives away another four and position to Trump when he shorts a two-cushion escape. It's a good chance, but Judd soon misses a red to the bottom right to gift a chance to Anthony. It's not taken though, as Anthony soon misses a routine green and he's handed the chance straight back.

Trump 7-5 McGill

It's a slog, this, until Judd finally pots a red and a black to leave Anthony needing two snookers. We're playing on, but two misses in quick succession from Anthony gives away eight more and we're done in this one.

That's the interval, we'll be back in 20 minutes.

He's getting there incrementally. Judd picks up four from a foul, pots a red and a green, and he's 60 ahead with 67 remaining.

Trump 6-5 McGill (52-0)

Judd makes 52, which is a decent visit given the state of the table. Anthony returns to a table with 75 left on it, and a lot of work to do.

Trump 6-5 McGill (31-0)

It's the final frame before the interval, and after opening with lots of safety the table is a mess. Judd gets in first with a wafer thin cut on a red, and keeps his break going with a good red to bottom left with the rest a few shots later. He's picking off what's available but it's getting harder by the shot; there are seven reds near the bottom cushion, all tying up the black.

On our other table they're at the interval, where Jack Lisowski leads Neil Robertson 7-5.

Trump 6-5 McGill

Judd picks off the final red and clears up to the blue to take the frame.

Trump 5-5 McGill (68-27)

It's 48 for Judd, who makes sure of frame ball black and then pays safe to baulk. Anthony needs two snookers, and tidies up 15 before going for them on the final red.

Trump 5-5 McGill (40-12)

Judd's safety has been off today, and another poor one leaves Anthony a look at a mid-range red to bottom left. That goes, but Anthony's positional play isn't on it either and he breaks down on four to leave Judd in. It's a chance, but a constant battle for decent position until he drops a thin red into the left middle, and he now has the chance to convert this into a frame-winning break.

Trump 5-5 McGill (20-8)

It's Jekell and Hyde stuff from Judd, who pots a delicate, long red into the green pocket to land on the black, which he then misses off its spot and leaves Anthony on a red. In response only eight comes before Anthony loses position, and this frame has suddenly gone very scrappy.

Trump 5-5 McGill (19-0)

It's four and a free ball to Judd at the start of frame 11 as Anthony misses a thin contact safety, a chance that yields 19 before Judd is forced to play back to baulk.

On our other table there have now been four centuries in consecutive frames, which has equalled a record:

Anthony adds 12, and then hits the blue when trying to play round the angles to hit the final red. That leaves a free ball from which Judd mops up seven points, and he coaxes another four point foul from a snooker a few shots later. When Anthony lands a snooker of his own a few shots later though Judd folds it, and we're all square again.

On our other table, Jack Lisowski has started like a steam train with two consecutive centuries to lead Neil Robertson 6-4.

Trump 5-4 McGill (60-11)

Oh my, he's missed frame ball again! Anthony leaves a red in the jaws of the bottom right and with 51 remaining, Judd is still in this. Surely he can't nick this one too? No, as it turns out; Judd fails to plant one red onto another, and he's left a red to bottom left for Anthony who should see it home from here.

Trump 5-4 McGill (33-11)

Anthony looks to have compartmentalised that missed black in the previous frame, as he calmly moves to 33 by gliding in a delicate cut on a red to bottom left and drops on the pink. There are four more open reds to go at and if he picks and/or blues, he'll be home and dry.

It's another poor safety from Judd, double-kissing a red and leaving one on to the bottom right. Anthony can't convert it though, and he's left Judd in. The break needs a good recovery pot on the yellow to keep going early, but derails when Judd rattles a black out of the jaws of the bottom left to gift a chance to Anthony.

Trump 5-4 McGill

It's a nightmare for Anthony, who swerves out of a snooker but sends the white in-off and leaves a very tight free ball. With everything in the open, he's in trouble here. Judd steps in, calmly makes 39 and nicks the frame on the black. What a swing in the first frame there!

Trump 4-4 McGill (31-65)

There’s little margin for error here for Judd, who can afford to take one pink with the five remaining reds. He takes it early, and even though the reds aren’t set perfectly he’s really making a good fist of it. Eventually it goes awry on 31 as he can’t cut a red into the right middle, and Anthony returns to the table.

Trump 4-4 McGill (0-65)

Judd plays a shot so poor that it's hard to know whether it was a pot or a safety, and leaves Anthony a red from mid-range to the bottom right. Anthony sweeps that in, lands on the pink and the frame is now at his mercy. After 16 though he has frame ball black to the bottom left...and he's missed it! Can Judd possibly clear up here?

Trump 4-4 McGill (0-49)

It's a smooth break from Anthony, who picks off everything in the open and then opens the pack off one cushion after potting the green. They split well but he's not on one, and it's back to baulk after a break of 49.

Trump 4-4 McGill (0-24)

Judd gets the first chance, as a poor safety from Anthony leaves a thin cut on a red to left middle. Unfortunately for Judd he catches it so thin that it doesn't reach, and he's left Anthony an easy starter. This is a decent chance, and it's all reds and blacks so far.

Too tight to call?

This always had the look of a dangerous tie for Judd Trump. The 2019 world champion hasn't actually won a Triple Crown event since his triumph at the Crucible three years ago even though he's spent a lot of the intervening time hoovering up the other titles, and has had a slightly underwhelming season by his lofty recent standards. McGill has been the scourge of many big names here, with Crucible wins over Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy and Ronnie O'Sullivan on his CV as well as that Homeric yet ultimately agonising run to the brink of the final in 2020.

It didn't end up being a frame winning shot, as he missed the yellow next time, but this screw off the brown was remarkable by Noppon

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (50-70)

And a poor safety from Higgins gives Saengkham the chance to sink the blue with a clip along the baulk cushion. He claws his way back to 4-4, which is incredible given he was 3-0 down (and it should have been 4-0). John Higgins will be furious with himself for leaving the door open

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (50-65)

Unbelievable! Another ridiculous fluke from Noppon, hitting it into the green pocket instead of the left middle. He's had some luck in this frame and now needs just one more ball to win it

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (50-61)

Higgins however makes no mistake with the yellow. He adds the green and goes up for the brown which is still on the black spot, which he misses. Here's another chance for Noppon. What a remarkably untidy session this has been from the Wizard of Wishaw

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (45-61)

Higgins sets a snooker for Noppon, who's trying a swerve shot to escape and does so at the second attempt, leaving the cue ball tight to the cushion as well. Shortly afterwards, John goes in-off, but Saengkham can't pot the yellow

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (41-57)

The key for both players is the yellow, which is tight on the side cushion. Noppon needs that and the green after taking a brown (off the black spot), and he plays an unbelievable screw shot to bring it off the cushion - before unbelievably missing it.

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (41-52*)

Well, well, well. Higgins fouls once when trying to make a thin clip on the red, and on the second occasion hits it too thick, hanging one up the table for a long pot. Saengkham sinks it and then can't miss the black. The next red is superb, followed by a green, before a sparkling double. What potting!

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (41-31)

Higgins takes a moment to run to the toilet - mid-frame! He gets back and attempts a long red to the left corner which I reckon he missed by at least six inches. That was so unlike him!

A stinker of a miss on one red along the top cushion means it's end of break though. Higgins responds with a beautiful red into the green pocket and he holds for the black - which he misses too

A quite unbelievable fluke from Saengkham, who tries to get the red into the left corner, but it clatters into the right middle. He apologises to John, but he'll be smiling inside at that one. What an opportunity he has now, but he'll have to develop some reds - three of the remaining five are on the top cushion, one is on the left

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (40-21)

That's another poor safety from Saengkham, who pushes a red into a potable position. Higgins however misses it by miles, and the cue ball then goes into the left middle. This has been another untidy frame. Neither player has been fluent throughout the session

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (40-17)

Cracking plant by Saengkham, before he puts Higgins in big trouble by rolling up behind the brown. John fails to escape on his first four attempts, handing 16 points to Noppon, who then sends the cue ball into the green pocket with his safety

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (36-0)

It's a more than handy lead for Higgins, and looks even better when he's left a long red by a poor Noppon safety. He rattles it home, but runs too close to the black to be on it, so plays safe off the yellow

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (35-0)

John manages to move that red over the left corner, and with his next shot he delicately runs through the pack off the blue. It's a decent result, pushing one red over the same corner. This is beginning to look like an ominous break, but the next shot it tough. He's the wrong side of the blue - he strokes it home, but leaves it short of ideal on the red, which he misses. Higgins almost ran out of steam in that break.

Higgins 4-3 Saengkham (*11-0)

A confident long pot to the left corner gets John rolling in frame eight. There aren't many times, if any, where he's been first at the table, so will he make it count? He'll have to develop the black, you would think, and move a red near the left corner

So here we go, the final frame of the session. Higgins was 3-0 up and it should have been 4-0. If Saengkham can take this one it will be a real result - and Higgins will be left kicking himself.

A lovely cut on the final red along the top cushion ensures Higgins won't be coming back to the table. Now, can he clear up the remaining colours? No, because he goes in-off when potting the brown, but it doesn't matter. The gap is down to one frame

Higgins 4-2 Saengkham (26-65*)

And it proves not to be a frame winning chance. Higgins runs out of position off a red, meaning it's tough to get close to his next red off the blue. He has to take a tricky, thin cut to the right corner and can't do so. Here's another opening for Saengkham, who himself arrows home a beautiful blue

Vintage Higgins with a superb long red. He then takes the pink into the right middle to find position at the right end of the table. He will need to move some of the reds eventually though - one on is on the top cushion and another close to the black, so this might not be a frame winning opportunity

Again, Saengkham is finding it tough to hold position with the cue ball. He's going to need to go into the pack again soon, but he doesn't have the position to do so. He tries to force the black home and hits it off the table. Chance gone

Given how this session started, with Higgins winning the first three frames, if Noppon can take this one and guarantee that, at worst, he'll be two behind going into the evening session, I suspect he'd be delighted. However, he tries to go into the pack off the blue and it all goes wrong, looking like end of break. He's got other ideas though - clipping a red into the green pocket

Higgins' potting hasn't been as good as usual today. He misses a long red to the right pocket at the start of frame seven, the penultimate frame in the session, and leaves a chance for Saengkham to come to the tale and sink a red followed by a brown. With cue ball in hand, Saengkham is able to pot the yellow, green and brown. He needs to blue for the frame, and he takes that, as well as the pink. That feels like a massive moment - and a huge steal from Noppon

Higgins plays a safety so good that it forces Saengkham into taking on a horrible long pot. It's awkward and he comes close, rattling both jaws, but the red stays up and careers back up the table, becoming and easy pot over the yellow pocket. Next up is a tricky red to the left corner with the extended rest - he's missed a few of these today, and although he pots the red, the cue ball goes into the green pocket.

And Noppon puts that long red magnificently. He adds the black, but misses the second red into that tricky left corner. Thankfully he manages to cover it with the black

He misses a black along the top cushion on 40 - his highest break since frame two - and now Higgins is back at the table with a chance to steal it, but he can't develop two reds near the pink spot - and with his safety leaves a long red for Noppon

A lovely run-through cannon on black and red opens things up nicely for Noppon, who is looking more confident as the break progresses. He leaves himself the wrong side of the blue though, and it's not the first time on this visit to the table he's been out of position. Big long red coming up, and he pots that superbly

And now a miscue from Higgins when trying to pot a red to the right corner. A kiss on the cue ball on the way back means he's left the white at the top end of the table and Noppon has a chance to start scoring some points

Higgins doesn't miss with his next shot though, a middle-distance red to the left middle, followed by a pink. There are two reds left on the table, but what works in Noppon's favour is the black is out of play on the right cushion. He's going to need that to win the frame

Higgins again misses with his first two attempts to escape, handing another eight points to Noppon. He finally hits with his third shot, and then Saengkham's safety goes a little awry, leaving a thin cut to John - but he misses

Well, well, well. Higgins misses for a second time, so he gets a warning that he'll forfeit the frame if he doesn't hit on the third attempt. He makes doubly sure, but Saengkham plays a brilliant snooker behind the yellow. He's on top in this frame

He might do, but it won't be with this break. He tries to move those two final reds on the top cushion, and again it doesn't go too well, leaving only a very thin cut. He rejects that, playing a good safety instead. Higgins fouls on his first attempt at responding to it

And it's with those four reds that Higgins comes unstuck. He tries to develop them, but they don't sit nicely. He's left with a tough one along the cushion to the right corner and it sticks in the jaws. Chance to Noppon. Can he finally get on the board?

Wow! What an escape from Saengkham, just about missing the green and getting through to a red. However, he leaves it for Higgins, who cuts into the middle, adding the pink. Noppon now needs snookers

Higgins of course plays a much better safety that leaves Noppon in big trouble, and he can't provide a particularly good escape, leaving a red that Higgins sends into the right corner. It'll just be an addition of one point to his score though, as he plays a brilliant safety, nestling the cue ball in behind the brown and blue

This time Noppon does pot the red he's been left. He follows it with the blue, off which he tries to develop two tough reds near the top cushion, but doesn't quite catch it right, so has to play safe - but his safety shot is very poor

Higgins is having to make the cue ball do a little bit of working, continually going back up for the blue. Eventually he comes unstuck on a red though, requiring the extended rest and seeing it rattle the jaws

I think it's fair to say Saengkham is all at sea. He should cut a red into the right corner but misses by quite some distance. Higgins responds by sinking the same ball and is now back at the table scoring heavily

Noppon shows no ill-effects of losing that frame. He knocks in a lovely long red, left by Higgins from the break off, two open up frame two. Higgins indeed takes the opening frame, clearing up with a break of 59 before rejecting the black. That's a bit of a steal from Noppon, who will be a bit frustrated, but there's a long way to go

There are still a couple of tough reds on the table, including one with the extended rest that John makes look easy. The remaining one is tight on that top cushion, but he's got a nice angle on the black and strokes it home. He will surely clear up from here

And he's unable to develop those four reds left on the top cushion, meaning a tough red to the right corner is left, which he misses - and leaves it for Higgins in the process. A clever little cut from John brings two of those reds into play and suddenly the momentum of this frame has swung

Well the blue is back on its spot now, and off it Noppon managed to develop a couple of the reds on the top cushion, so that's opened up the table a bit. He then takes a red before adding the black, so that too is on its spot. He's developing this break nicely but will need to bring a couple more reds into play

As we saw in the first round, Saengkham does not shirk a potting opportunity, and he rattles home a terrific long red to bag his first point of the match, before squeezing home a yellow to bring the cue ball back towards the reds. The table doesn't look too nice though. Five reds are on the top cushion, one on the right and the blue and black are off their spots

Higgins runs out of position on the blue and has to take it long to the left corner, only to miss by quite some distance. Fortunately he doesn't leave anything, but Noppon replies with a good safety

Hello and welcome back to our live coverage of the World Snooker Championships! We've got two second round matches getting underway this morning as Kyrne Wilson faces 2015 winner Stuart Bingham, while four time champion John Higgins is up against Noppon Saengkham. It all gets underway at 10.15am

'You don't do that in snooker' - White not impressed as Yan wanted white cleaned on tough shot

Yan Bingtao versus Mark Selby always had the feel of a match that could burn the midnight oil, as neither is famed for swashbuckling snooker, with caution often the watchword.

Matches often tend to last a long time when three minutes are taken over a shot. But that was what Yan did in the 18th frame of their second-round encounter at the World Championship on Saturday.

‘In future you don’t do that’ - Yan Bingtao warned about unwritten rule

On this occasion, it’s fair to say he was entitled to take his time after Selby had set a fiendish puzzle.

The defending champion’s shot went completely awry and he went back to his seat with a worried look on his face as it appeared he had left Yan a shot at the brown. Or had he?
