"Otylia suffered only minor spinal injuries that do not require surgery and a head wound that has been stitched up," added Dr Robert Smigielski, Poland's national swimming squad physician.
Jedrzejczak's brother Szymon, 19 and also a swimmer, who had just enrolled at Warsaw's Physical Education Academy, was killed on impact when the car crashed into a tree.
A world record holder who won butterfly gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics and this year's World Swimming Championships in Montreal, Jedrzejczak, 22, ranks among Poland's best-loved sport personalities.
She is also widely known for her charitable activities benefiting young cancer sufferers.
The accident occurred in a rural area some 40 kilometres (25 miles) north-west of Warsaw, when Jedrzejczak failed to overtake a string of vehicles on a two-lane road and veered into a roadside ditch to avoid an oncoming car.
