Hello and welcome to our LIVE comments of this second round match from Basel between Roger Federer and Janko Tipsarevic - we are just underway.

Very easy from Federer, he quickly races into a 40-0 lead and the crowd start to get going. An unreturnable second serve clinches the match and he only dropped one point on his serve in that entire second set and he didn't drop a single point on his first serve all night. A good win. He'll face Radek Stepanek or Santiago Giraldo next.

Another scrappy game by Tipsarevic but he does dig it out after a spell at deuce. He hasn't been at the races today though and Federer should close it out in this next game.

Hurrah! Tipsarevic wins a point on the Federer serve but only one as the Swiss master again romps to a service hold…he is just one game away.

FEDERER BREAKS! He did not have to do much either. Tipsarevic won the first point but then three unforced errors put him in a huge hole. Federer only needed one as he dominated a rally and eventually forced the error.

This is just a mis-match on the Federer serve at the moment – 12 for 12 in this second set. Can he get a break though?

Well we have mentioned Federer's backhand a few times in the comments but in that last game he just failed to find his range a little and conceded two points with efforts that were just long. Another hold to 15 for Tipso.

Federer has not lost a point on his serve in this second set. Eight of eight with the last point coming with a serve and volley again. The court is so quick in Basel that it is an effective tactic.

Better stuff from Tipsarevic in this game as he shows some good defensive qualities to win a point on 30-15 and he holds to 15. A bit more competitive this one now.

Federer still imperious on his own serve as he again holds to love. Tipsarevic just can't deal with the first serves from Fed.

Tipso holds the opener in the second set but he didn't make it easy for himself after putting an easy looking volley wide on 40-30 but he needed that game and he got it.

SET FEDERER: Federer wraps up the set with an ace. He holds to 30 after having being 40-0 up. That little cushion helped him – Federer has not lost ONE point when the first serve has come in from Federer. 12/12 and that is the key stat of the set even though Fed has only got 48 per cent of those bad boys in.

Federer does more damage with that backhand of his which helps him go 0-30 in front but Tipso then finally starts to find some range – a lovely forehand cross court helped him go 40-30 up and then he won a high quality rally to wrap up the game.

Federer starts the game with a fluke off the net chord and quickly wraps up a hold to love as he starts to find his range with the first serve.

Tipsarevic starts with a double fault and then follows it up with an ace. He then catches Federer fishing at the net and guides a backhand by him. Another sweet backhand makes it 40-15 and an unreturnable serve wraps up the game.

Federer ends a love game with a bit of old school serve and volley. Tipso still looks out of sorts while Federer looks sublime.

Tipsarevic puts a simple backhand from the middle of the court long which shows he is not firing on all cylinders but he did finally get a game on the board mainly because Federer couldn't get the serve in play.

Federer shifts Tipso from side to side in the early stages of game – when his one handed backhand is working it really is a thing of beauty and he used to good effect on one point in this game. He also fired an ace too but Tipso did at least get a couple of points. Federer finally gets the hold to 30.

BREAK FEDERER: The home hero breaks to 15 straight off the bat. Tipso struggled to find his range in that game and a smooth and fluid looking Federer takes full advantage.

Federer struggles to get first serves in during the opener and falls into a 15-30 hole but a nice forehand helps him avoid break points and he goes on and takes the game.
