Novak Djokovic edges past Hubert Hurkacz - result from the 2023 Nitto ATP World Tour Finals at The Pala Alpitour in Turin

Hurkacz rockets down more aces to take his tally to 20 and level matters despite throwing a sixth double fault into the mix.

A controlled smash at the second attempt and a clutch volley at the net light the way for the Serb as he opens Set 3 with a comfortable game to 15.

Regardless of this result, Djokovic will now need Sinner to beat Rune tonight to reach the last four. If the Dane wins, the World No.1 will bow out.

The fact Djoker hasn't won in straight sets means whatever the permutations are, the Italian will be in the semi finals this weekend.

The Hurk shrugs off his double fault of the match, lashing down a massive second serve and another unreturn-able to tee up a couple of set points.

Nole engages him in a rally on the first of them but sizzles just long and Hurkacz levels up to take us into a breaker.

It’s a mixed bag from the 24-time Grand Slam champion as he lets a 30-0 lead slip but a couple of one-two punches to either flank edge him through to pose the serve-out question.

Nole stops the mini rot of points against him, unleashing a lot of frustration in a gorgeous, deep forehand down the line en route to a game to 30.

Djokovic makes a mess of a volley into the net and from there it’s all about the Hubie return. His attacking policy does indeed finally pay off as he slams down a smash and then unloads a massive return to tee up triple break point.

Djokovic can’t respond and a double fault provides a sudden twist to the proceedings.

The Hurk clocks up a 12th ace and races level with a hold to love.

It’s a similar problem for Hurkacz too as he isn’t making any impact on the Djoker serve.

The Pole’s main hope is to keep going for broke with his groundstrokes and pray that a succession of attempts come up trumps.

It doesn’t happen here and Novak breezes to the game to 15.

The tie-break was imperious but now there's more frustration for Djokovic on the return. He’s been very business-like today and barely smiles despite a wonderful rally that ends with The Hurk producing a clutch, slice volley at the net.

The Pole fires down Ace 11 but double faults for 30-30. There’s a window of opportunity for the World No.1 but Hubie refuses to let him through and the underdog enjoys a timely boost as he drags himself on to the board.
