GAME, SET AND MATCH! – DJOKOVIC 6-3 3-6 5-7 RUNE
Incredible! Rune fends off FIVE break points before a delicious stun volley earns him Championship point.
The teenage Dane blows it with a double fault and then swats away a sixth BP before finally dragging himself over the line on his second opportunity to win the Paris Masters.
  • Rune becomes the first player on record (since 1973) to beat five Top 10 opponents in the same tournament (except for the Nitto ATP Finals)
  • At 19 he is the youngest Rolex Paris Masters champion since Boris Becker, 18, in 1986
  • Holger becomes the first Danish player to break into the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings (since 1973)
  • He will now be the first alternate at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin
  • Rune joins World No. 1 Alcaraz (19) as the second teenager in the Top 10. The last time two teenagers ranked in the Top 10 was on May 14, 2007 with No. 6 Djokovic and No. 10 Murray (both 19).

Shock on? Rune cranks up the heats and calls for the crowd to make some noise at 30-30. He follows up by clocking up a break point and this time Nole buckles, lashing a forehand well wide of the mark.

It’s been a superb battle but we are coming towards the climax now. Djoker holds to 15 and is now one break from victory. Rune cannot afford any slip now…
DJOKOVIC 6-3 3-6 4-4 RUNE
That was a cracking game. Djoker looked to up the ante with a backhand winner on the stretch as he turned 40-15 into an opportunity at deuce. Rune refused to cough it up though and nailed a beauty of a backhand up the line before luring a surprising forehand error out of the Serb to level once more.
DJOKOVIC 6-3 3-6 4-3 RUNE
It’s edgy stuff but Djokovic does enough to dig out a hold to 30 and nudge the board as we enter the business-end of the set.

All square! Rune is frustrating the life out of the former World No.1 right now. The Dane lights up the court with a wonderful drop-shot-backhand pass combo at 30-30 before consolidating with a hefty serve.

Wow! That wasn’t in the script. Nole can’t get the job done at 40-30 as Holger passes him with a scorching backhand up the line.
The Dane redlines with a stonking return and then defends brilliantly to eek out the break back.

It’s another routine hold for the loss of one point and Djoker will have one last bite at breaking back in this set. Will Rune’s nerve hold?

BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 6-3 0-2 RUNE
More frustration for Djokovic. He balloons a forehand way long from the fore court to cough up a break point and follows it with another surprisingly wayward strike.
