GAME SET AND MATCH! David Ferrer wins his first indoor title with a serve that Granollers can't get over the net.

Super pass down the line from an advancing Granollers to make it 30-30. He's not giving up without a fight... But it's match point as Ferrer pings in a super first serve that Granollers can't work with.

Ferrer holds but Granollers is showing some pluck, holding his service game with some smart play around the baseline and a cracking volley at the net to win it. Ferrer to serve for the match.

Too easy forn Ferrer, a love hold with an ace, a few unreturnable serves and a short rally that sees Granollers put it wide.

Ferrer holds easily and then Granollers holds to some fanfare. Ferrer made him work though.

Has going a set and a break down broken the spirit and the challenge of Marcel Granollers? Not quite - Granollers tries to rouse himself as he gets to deuce, but Ferrer nudges in front with a confident volley at the net. Granollers pegs him back to deuce again and when Ferrer's ferocious pass misses just wide the underdog has break point. He misses by precious little down the line, and Ferrer seals the game at the third attempt.

BREAK! Granollers doesn't look like he has a great weaponry but every now and then he pulls out a remarkable shot - in this case it's a forehand from deep to pass Ferrer at the net - 15-0. Ferrer is looking measured, however, picking Granollers off more and more and nudging ahead. Granollers scrambles to rescue 30-30. Ferrer forces deuce with a confident backhand overhead volley, brings up break point with a backhand pass, and the break follows.

Ferrer serves first in the second set, and he's looking bouyant after going ahead. A crisp backhand winner takes him to 30-0 and he appears in control. A thrilling rally could get Granollers back to level but his winner clips the top of the net - great play from both men, delighted their home crowd. It gives Ferrer a big advantage and he sees out the game.

SET! Granollers is having to fight every step of the way for this one as the match goes past the hour mark. He misses long to let Ferrer back to 30-30 but brings up game point with an emphatic smash at the net. Ferrer forces an error to bring up deuce, and then grabs a set point - and takes it with a deep shot that Granollers steers back into the net! Valiant effort from Granollers, but it's the experienced Ferrer who has the advantage.

No nonsense from Ferrer either - hold to love, finishing with an ace down the middle. Can Granollers force a tiebreak?

A great time for Granollers to serve out his most assured hold of the match so far - he chases down an attempted drop shot with a polished crosscourt winner at the net and holds to love. All-square once again!

BREAK! Terrific backhand to pass the advancing Ferrer and Granollers has a chink of light at 0-30. He tells himself off for snatching at a second serve and finding the net, and Ferrer levels up with a service winner. But a break point comes for Granollers, and with patient, deep backhands and a swiped forehand pass the Spaniard gets the set back on serve!

BREAK! Terrific overhead smash on the backhand to get Granollers up and running but Ferrer is pushing and probing and takes a 15-30 lead. Granollers hanging on valiantly but it looks like he's having to play right on his limits to keep with Ferrer at the moment, and with an ever-so-slightly long approach he gives away break point - and this time Ferrer only needs one chance.

Ferrer storms into a 40-0 lead and Granollers puts a backhand long. The world number 67 has dropped very deep - his early success came from attacking and getting forward.

Advantage Granollers, but after a clay court-like exchange on the backhand Ferrer retrieves another deuce. A bit of luck with a volley for Granollers gets him to game point once again, and with a sparkling backhand drop from behind the baseline he gets over the line at the fourth attempt, having saved four break points!

Granollers' lack of force is being exposed a little as Ferrer advances to the net and puts away a couple of volleys - 15-30 to the world number eight. He brings up two break points but Ferrer is beaten by a full stretch backhand - terrific save from Granollers and it inspires him to save the other. Another break point for Ferrer passes, two game points go begging for Granollers and the lucky loser has to make a superb volley to deny Ferrer a fourth time...

Much better hold from David Ferrer - this one is to love and perhaps this is the moment when the fourth seed settles.

Granollers is not putting too much behind the serve but attacking at just the right moments mid-rally. A mix of attack and patient defence gets him to 30-0. He misses long with a forehand at game point, but he has enough to get over the line. A good start to this match from the underdog.

There's not much to choose between these two in the early exchanges. Granollers does well to force a first break point but the fourth seed saves it with a nerveless volley. Granollers doesn't look to be feeling nervous either - he cracks a backhand down the line to force another break point but misses just wide. Ferrer denied at game point twice by a determined Granollers, but not a third time.
