GAME, SET AND MATCH MURRAY! He wraps up the match with a big first serve. Ferrer gets the ball back over the net, but Murray converts the volley at the net to complete the win. He is into the last four, and is set to return to number four in the world. A job well done.

A SECOND BREAK FOR MURRAY! All over bar the shouting as the second set suddenly begins to mimic the first. All that is left is for Murray is to apply the finishing touches. Not really Ferrer's surface and Murray serves to complete the victory.

Murray forced to save a break point in that game. Ferrer is a real fighter. Murray looks to be having some trouble with his arm or a wristband. He faces another break point, but a serve and volley brings the score back to deuce before he tucks away a drop volley to move to advantage. He stays in the next rally before easing a backhand winner down the line. Murray leads 4-2.

MURRAY BREAKS! A netcord falls to Murray as he whacks a forehand in with the aid of the net. Gets lucky with that, but the power of his forehands are really starting to have an effect. Ferrer faces a long way back from here.

Murray back into his stride after that blip in his last service game. Seems to have regained his focus. The world number five holds to love, and we are all square in the second set.

Ferrer forced to deuce after moving 40-0 ahead, but he stops the bleeding with a couple of decent points. Murray fails to pass him from deep before a Ferrer bullet is knocked wide by his opponent at the net. The Spanish player holds a 2-1 lead in the second set. Games on serve.

FERRER BREAKS! Murray seemed to lose concentration in that game. Was dominating, but dropped in a wretched service game to love and Ferrer is suddenly back in the set. Bit of a lapse in concentration. Ferrer doesn't need any encouragement.

BREAK TO MURRAY! Ferrer not really comfortable coming to the net on anything short. He whacks a forehand out at the net to fall 15-40 behind before Murray converts a lob to break his opponent in the opening game of the second set. A seventh straight game for the Scot.

SET TO MURRAY! A sixth successive game for Murray. All too easy as he wraps up the set having drilled away nine winners. Just too good for the Spaniard, who is so busy around the court, but he can't really impact upon the British player. Murray needs one more game to be certain of that place in the last four. Could be Nadal in the last four for Murray.

DOUBLE BREAK FOR MURRAY! All going Murray's way out there. Ferrer saves two break points, but is powerless to halt the Scot's charge as he whips over a couple of forehands before drilling a winner across court with his forehand to move two breaks ahead. Just needs one more game to book his spot in the last four.

Murray continues to apply the pressure. A love service game. Dominant from Murray as he comes up with his best service game of the match. Dangerous times for Ferrer.

BREAK TO MURRAY! After a wobbly start, the British player is now firmly in control. He breaks for a second time in the match to move ahead by the odd game in five. Moving well from side to side and Ferrer can't live with the pace and direction of his groundstrokes. A double fault does not help matters.

Ferrer just wide with an attempted forehand winner down the line. So unlucky. Would have brought up two break points from 15-40, but instead we go back to 30-30 before Murray benefits from a spot of luck as the ball bounces over from a netcord. A couple of big forehands and volley sees Murray level at 2-2

MURRAY BREAKS BACK! Murray finds his feet to bring up three break points in the next game. Ferrer saves the first two, but the Scot hammers a winner down the line to break back immediatley. Seems to be looking a lot more relaxed after that game.

FERRER BREAKS! Ferrer comes to the net leading 40-15 on the Murray serve, but the Spanish player prods the first chance long. Was a really good chance to apply the pressure, but he makes the break on the next point as Murray empties a backhand into the net. First blood to Ferrer, who has opened brightly.

Solid first game from the Spanish player. Very assured. Moving well and getting his first serves in, which is going to be crucial against a returner like Murray, who picked up only one point in that game.

Ferrer has won three out of the four meetings between these men. The Spanish player has won three times on clay. No real surprise there. Murray won in straight sets in Toronto four years ago.
