GAME, SET AND MATCH! - FERRER 5-7 2-6 WAWRINKA. Stan needs three bites of the cherry but eventually seals the match from deuce with a majestic winner to the baseline. The Swiss takes an 11th game out of the last 13 to clinch victory in straight sets and tee up a semi-final decider against Andy Murray on Friday. Ferrer fought valiantly but was undone by Wawrinka's x-factor on key points and will face his compatriot, the table-topping Nadal with only pride to play for.

FERRER 5-7 2-5 WAWRINKA. Stan overcooks a forehand at 0-30 and then balloons one into the crowd where a lucky spectator plucks a special souvenir out of the air! Again, Ferrer has a chance to serve out the game at 40-30 but Wawrinka lashes another winner beyond him to make deuce. It's been a real ordeal since 5-2 in the first set for Ferrer, but he isn't a quitter and eventually gets a bit more respectability out of the scoreline when his opponent slices wide following a lengthy exchange. Stan will now look to serve out the match.

FERRER 5-7 1-5 WAWRINKA. A brilliant first point is edged by Wawrinka at the net and from there he doesn't look back. It's a hold to love to consolidate the double break and Stan is now one game away from a first win at this year's finals.

BREAK! - FERRER 5-7 1-4 WAWRINKA. A double break for Stan and surely curtains for David. The game sums up the match for the Spaniard who hits back from 15-40 to move within a point of holding. A terrible sliced drop shot gifts Wawrinka the reprieve and he makes it count with a trademark backhand that sears the edge of the line on Ferrer's right flank.
-
FERRER 5-7 1-3 WAWRINKA. Stan seals the game to 30 with an ace that clips the outside of the middle T line after going so close with a Howitzer of a forehand that Ferrer correctly challenged as being just long.
-
FERRER 5-7 1-2 WAWRINKA. Ferrer stops the rot and gets on the board! Wawrinka's seven-game winning streak comes to a close as the Spaniard cruises to a love hold. Some delightful drop shots sandwich a well-worked wide serve and forehand to the opposite corner routine.
-
FERRER 5-7 0-2 WAWRINKA. The Swiss appears to be in the zone now, rushing through a hold to 15 to consolidate and close in on a Friday semi-final decider against Andy Murray.

BREAK! - FERRER 5-7 0-1 WAWRINKA. A combination of finesse and brute force from the Wawrinka forehand do some major damage as Ferrer once again fails to serve it out from 40-30. Losing this game is a huge psychological blow for the Spaniard who could well be packing his bags for home in half an hour or so.... Six games in succession and counting for Stan now.

Wawrinka taking the first set means Nadal has now qualified for the last four.

SET! - FERRER 5-7 WAWRINKA. Stan the Man completes the turnaround with a serve and volley to conclude a simple love hold. The Swiss struggled to handle Ferrer in the early exchanges but now seems to be well on top. David will wonder how it slipped away after appearing to have got under Stan's skin.

BREAK! - FERRER 5-6 WAWRINKA. It's back-to-back breaks from Stanimal and a fourth game on the spin as he comes through a topsy-turvy game thanks to another double fault from Ferrer. The Swiss looks in control at 0-30 but sees his opponent roar back with some cute net play to lead 40-30. A sensational diagonal, low slice from Stan helps him to deuce before Ferrer capitulates and hands Wawrinka the chance to serve for the set. What a turnaround!

FERRER 5-5 WAWRINKA. All square! Stan gets a bit twitchy from 30-0 up but a clever volley at the net puts him back in control as he goes on to hold to 30.

BREAK! - FERRER 5-4 WAWRINKA. Stan's back in it! It's a shocker for Ferrer who will feel he should have served it out. A first double fault at 15-0 leads to a case of the jitters and although he recovers to tee up set point at 40-30 another DF allows the Swiss to take advantage from deuce. A stunning backhand winner down the line is the perfect way to seal it. We are back on serve. Has the tide turned in favour of the French Open champion?

FERRER 5-3 WAWRINKA. A first ace of the match seals a rapid-fire hold to 15 for Stan. Over to you David, time to try and close the set out on serve...
