GAME, SET AND MATCH! - NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 3-6 CILIC. That's it! A fine comeback success from Marin as he secures his first ever win at these finals at the sixth attempt. The Croatian grew into the occasion and broke the Japanese's serve for the second time in the set on his second match point when Kei fired long. It's a perfect boost for Cilic heading into the Davis Cup final but a bad loss for Nishi who must lift himself for a huge semi final clash with Djoker on Saturday evening.

NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 3-5 CILIC. Marin is one away from his first ever win at these finals. He lets 30-0 slip to 30-30. Kei deserves credit for some fine defence, but he can do nothing against aces and Cilic finishes it off with a thumping forehand the Japanese can't quite reach.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 3-4 CILIC. Kei gritting his teeth and digging in as he stays in touch to 30. Hard to see a way back now with Cilic's serving mojo flowing.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 2-4 CILIC. Marin ruthlessly consolidates to love. Big serving, big hitting. When it comes off, it looks so easy.

BREAK! - NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 2-3 CILIC. Kei daren't look at that unforced error count. They are coming far too frequently for his liking and sees him throw a 30-15 lead away with a brace of them. A nervy second swerve is then seized upon by Cilic who canons the return backhand return winner down the line.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 2-2 CILIC. Nishikori peppers the Cilic backhand and draws an error long to gain a glimmer of hope at 15-30. Cilic responds with a smart volley before rampaging through the next two points to level.

NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 2-1 CILIC. After two one-sided sets, this is tight. Kei loses the rally of the match to trail 15-30 but recovers well, landing some strong first serves to help him dictate and win some cheap points.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 1-1 CILIC. Marin has got it the right way around now. Start your serve on fire and even if you give away a cheap point, you'll be in the driving seat. It happens here at 40-0, but he gets through unscathed as Kei guides wide off the backhand down the line.
-
Dominant stats for Cilic in that second set. Not so great for Nishikori.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 1-0 CILIC. A first ace an hour and 18 minutes into the match gives Kei some breathing space at 40-15 after Cilic had crushed a timid second serve. The Japanese's hit and miss deliveries continued as he double faulted before getting the set off on the front foot with a drive to the baseline Cilic could only scoop wide.

SET! - NISHIKORI 6-3 2-6 CILIC. All square! We are heading into a decider. Kei threatens a mini recovery with some wonderful examples from his shot-making portfolio. A sizzling forehand down the line and a crosscourt return winner help him towards deuce, but aces 10 and 11 give the Croat his first set of the week.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 2-5 CILIC. Kei avoids the breakstick. A lovely backhand crosscourt lob from Cilic moves him 15-30 to the good, but the Japanese hits back to pose that serve out question.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 1-5 CILIC. Kei already with his mind on the third set. Cilic seals it to love but Kei had all the time in the world to finish a forehand and still managed to slam it into the net.
-
Cilic looking good to take this to a decider.

BREAK - NISHIKORI 6-3 1-4 CILIC. Really sloppy from Kei. He drops some cheap points and then double faults to offer up triple BP. The double break is on for Chila and he only has to do a little bit of work before the Japanese dumps another timid forehand into the net.
-
NISHIKORI 6-3 1-3 CILIC. Marin eventually consolidates with two huge serves after he had allowed a 40-0 lead slip to deuce.

BREAK - NISHIKORI 6-3 1-2 CILIC. Hold the phone! Cilic isn't done just yet. The big man capitalises on some weaker serving from Kei to make 30-30. Two ill-timed misfires off the Japanese's forehand then give the Croat the huge lift he needs.

Raonic looking the more likely for No.3 unless he bows out to Murray and Nishi shocks Djoker tomorrow.
