GAME, SET AND MATCH! - RAONIC 6-3 6-4 MONFILS. Impressive from Raonic. The world number four rarely looked in any trouble on serve throughout and it was no surprise to see him crash down a 12th ace to claim victory on the second of three match points. Monfils produced the party tricks but Raonic was the more consistent player. No-one will want to face the Canadian in this type of big-hitting form.
-
RAONIC 6-3 5-4 MONFILS. La Monf refuses to go down without one last hurrah. He dictates the tempo of the rallies for the first real period in the match to ease to the game to 15. Raonic will now serve for the match.

-
RAONIC 6-3 5-3 MONFILS. The Canadian consolidates with an ace down the middle T to seal the game to 30 and consolidate that break. He's one away from victory.

It's looking like a debut to forget for Monfils on this stage....

BREAK! - RAONIC 6-3 4-3 MONFILS. There it is! Raonic has pressed for the break more often than not - and this time he gets it. Monfils only has himself to blame, opting for some strange shot selection and tactics from 40-30 up. At break point down from deuce he races into the net and totally misreads the crosscourt slice from the Canadian. Raonic closing in on the win now.
-
RAONIC 6-3 3-3 MONFILS. Too good. Raonic thunders down a 142 mph ace and then cracks down his eighth of the day as he cruises to another hold. No-one blinking in this second set.
-
RAONIC 6-3 2-3 MONFILS. Still just the one break of serve in this match. Raonic has been super solid but La Monf is staying within striking distance. This hold proves more comfortable as he take the game to 15.

RAONIC 6-3 2-2 MONFILS. Simple and oh so effective. Raonic holds to love in double-quick time. No real glimmer for Gael so far.
-
RAONIC 6-3 1-2 MONFILS. Gael is forced to dig deep to fend off a flurry of break points and make deuce. It seems to fire him up as he finds some consistency in his hard hitting forehands to turn it around. 'Allez' he screams. Could Raonic live to regret those missed chances?
-
RAONIC 6-3 1-1 MONFILS. Another routine service game ends with an explosion of brilliance from both players. Raonic expertly breezes into the net but is almost passed by a sensational attempt on the run from Monfils that clipped the top of the net and dropped wide.
-
RAONIC 6-3 0-1 MONFILS. Big hold for La Monf. He pummels down a pair of aces at 15-30 to take control before allowing Raonic another break opportunity from deuce. The Canadian hit a quite sublime return winner to tee it up but couldn't quite convert with a pass long of the baseline. Monfils regained his composure and managed to wriggle through to keep his hopes of the comeback alive.

SET! - RAONIC 6-3 MONFILS. Raonic does indeed serve out the opening set with an ice cool game to 15. The Canadian broke in game two and hasn't really looked back. It's very business-like, unspectacular stuff from the world number four - but it's winning tennis. Monfils has entertained but needs to do more consistently to turn this around.
-
RAONIC 5-3 MONFILS. Gael poses the serve-out question as he stays in contention by seeing out the hold from 30-30. Over to Raonic to try to hold his nerve and seal the opening set...
-
RAONIC 5-2 MONFILS. A real contrast at the other end of the net as Raonic goes through his efficient serving rhythm. The Canadian wraps up his own love hold, trading big forehands before outwitting his opponent with some smart volleying at the net.
-
-
RAONIC 4-2 MONFILS. If only Monfils could produce mesmerising tennis more regularly. A nonchalant 'no-look' dropshot is the pick of his points before he concludes the love hold with a slam dunk smash at the net.
-
RAONIC 4-1 MONFILS. Gael conjures up a delicious lob but it's lost within a barrage of big serves from Milos. The pair exchange a bruising rally in what proves to be the concluding point with the Frenchman eventually angling a crosscourt inches wide. Raonic still in control.

Ha! Can't argue with that.
