GAME, SET AND MATCH! - THIEM 4-6 1-6 GOFFIN. David Goffin clinches a semi-final clash with Roger Federer after beating an error-prone Dominic Thiem in a winner-takes-all battle that lasted just one hour and 11 minutes. The Belgian overcame an early onslaught from his opponent to play with real consistency, allowing Thiem to be his own worst enemy with a succession of unforced errors. The Austrian didn't even pose the serve-out question as he double faulted to allow Goffin to seal it on his second match point.

THIEM 4-6 1-5 GOFFIN. The Belgian shows his first sign of nerves - and there are plenty in what is easily the longest game of the match. He gives Thiem real hope with some tight errors and a couple of double faults. The Austrian passes up four break back opportunities as he pressures Goffin from deuce. It doesn't come good for the Austrian, however, and Goffin gets over a major hurdle to move within one game of victory.

BREAK! - THIEM 4-6 1-4 GOFFIN. Le Goff has hit some nice winners so far this afternoon, but he's also been savvy enough to know that Thiem has been wildly misfiring. The Austrian follows up his first ace of the match by slapping a tired-looking shot into the net to offer up another break. Goffin has played the percentages by just staying in rallies and earns himself a virtual match point as Thiem hooks a backhand well wide to all-but kill his chances.

THIEM 4-6 1-3 GOFFIN. That's an important hold. Goffin hits a very wide second serve on break point. Thiem eventually blasts long, but if he'd challenged he would have had the break back. Instead, Goffin comes through from deuce, sealing it with an ace to consolidate.

BREAK! - THIEM 4-6 1-2 GOFFIN. When the errors leak they come like London buses. Thiem presents Goffin with double break point and the Belgian needs jus the one, forcing the mistake with a crisp forehand to the left wing he is facing.
THIEM 4-6 1-1 GOFFIN. Anything you can do.... Goffin chalks up his own perfect game, finishing off with an intelligent serve-volley combo.
THIEM 4-6 1-0 GOFFIN. Thiem comes out all guns blazing and surges to an emphatic hold to love. He's capable of crushing an opponent, but can he keep it going long enough to turn this match around?

SET! - THIEM 4-6 GOFFIN. Le Goff takes the opener, fighting hard from 15-30 to serve it out in 31 minutes. Thiem almost earned a break back point, but the challenge on his pass down the line was shown to be a millimetre out.
THIEM 4-5 GOFFIN. Thiem finally puts a halt to his abysmal run. He finds some super rhythm on serve and waltzes to a love hold. Over to Le Goff to try and serve it out now.
THIEM 3-5 GOFFIN. A big serve and another simple point for Le Goff as he consolidates to make it five on the spin. This set is racing by.

BREAK! - THIEM 3-4 GOFFIN. It's four in a row for the Belgian. Thiem is all at sea, offering up triple break point with another double fault. A sublime crosscourt winner off the backhand offers a brief glimpse of what he can produce, but it doesn't dig him out the hole. Goffin in control.
THIEM 3-3 GOFFIN. All square. The Thiem tornado came to a rather abrupt end there. Goffin has settled and easily holds to love.

THIEM 3-2 GOFFIN. This is why Thiem hasn't quite made the waves his exciting style of tennis promises. He's prone to games where he goes too big - and this is one of them. Three unforced errors are followed by a double fault. Goffin had very little to do but is delighted to get the break back to love.
THIEM 3-1 GOFFIN. A much-needed hold for David. He finds some hefty first serves to take control and then gets himself on the board with a cute volley at the net that completely wrong-foots Thiem.
THIEM 3-0 GOFFIN. Just 10 minutes played and Thiem is well and truly in the driving seat. Goffin leaks errors to offer up cheap points and the No.4 seed gratefully tucks them into his back pocket to consolidate to 15.
