SET - TSONGA 7-6(5) 6-4 SIMON. Tsonga moves to 2-0 against Simon in Melbourne. The tenth seed has won 17 (28%) of return points against one of the weakest servers in the world, serving only 52% first serves and hampered by an injury.

SET - TSONGA 7-6(5) SIMON. Only after an umpteenth return error did Tsonga fully apply himself. From thereon, it was a simple and routine first set triumph.

TSONGA 6-6 SIMON: Tsonga finally decides to take Simon's service games a litle more seriously and finds himself at 30-30. From that point, the Frenchman hits a forehand well wide of the tramlines followed by another forehand into the bottom of the net. Tiebreak.

TSONGA 3-2 SIMON: It has been an interesting week for Gilles Simon. He arrived in Melbourne on crutches with the news that he would likely be withdrawing from Melbourne. Instead of withdrawing, he has played in two epic setters. Here, Tsonga just dragged his countryman from left to right 5 times in a row, but no problem there.
TSONGA 1-1 SIMON. Both men are feeling their way onto the Hisense arena, but a matching routine service hold for Simon too.
