Novak Djokovic is world number one for a reason - this is his fifth Australian Open title.

Virginia Wade: "He will be utterly dismayed...It's totally mental, their exhaustion. These guys are fit as fiddles...You don't get any free points. If you hit a ball short, you're going to be punished...Andy fell into Novak's trap."

Greg Rusedski: "Murray should be very proud of the way he played throughout these championships."
Game, set, match Djokovic. He proceeds to throw various pieces of clothing and equipment into the crowd before fist-bumping with Boris Becker.

DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-7 6-3 6-0 MURRAY: There's a roar on every point Djokovic wins, and Boris Becker is applauding. Djokovic is cool, confident and cruising as he moves to two championship points. An overhit shot loses him the first as the umpire tries to shush the excited crowd, but the second is enough as Murray crashes another return into the net.
After those two wonderful opening sets, this has fallen away dramatically as Djokovic has stomped all over Murray.
Murray's eyes look glazed, possibly with horror at how this has gone so badly wrong for him. He's unlikely to break Djokovic, on this evidence - are we heading for a fourth-set bagel?

DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-7 6-3 5-0 MURRAY: Murray's lost all sense of direction and Djokovic is making him pay. The world number one is hitting almost everything perfectly. Murray pulls out a decent serve to get him a point at 15-30, but a single decent point on serve isn't going to win you grand slams. A third break in the fourth set for Djokovic, and he's about to serve for the match.
DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-7 6-3 4-0 MURRAY: It's so bizarre, these Murray mistakes. He's keeping up with Djokovic and then balloons a shot practically into orbit to hand his opponent game point. Djokovic isn't immune to errors, of course, another tank into the net takes him to 40-30, and Murray manages to get back to deuce with some quick feet and another one of those neat backhands. Yet Djokovic is nothing if not tenacious, cracking a forehand past Murray for the advantage and then employing sheer brute strength to win the final rally.
Murray still seems to have something left in his legs - he's just being outmanoeuvred by Djokovic's cunning.

That's nine games out of the last ten that have gone to Djokovic, if my calculations are correct. The momentum has well and truly shifted in his direction.

DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-7 6-3 3-0 MURRAY: Murray's head is down now, and Djokovic is clenching his fist. A double break as Murray's serve is limp as week-old lettuce, and he staggers out of the battle to his chair for a rest he very clearly needs.
Eurosport expert Frew McMillan says with tangible irony of Djokovic: "He looks right as rain, doesn't he?"
Desperate times for Murray. He seems to have swallowed his rage for the time being, but his game hasn't relaxed back into the usual routine.
DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-7 6-3 2-0 MURRAY: Great little bit of play as both men move up to the net and attempt to out-delicate each other, but a crashingly awful forehand from Murray allows Djokovic to hold.

DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-7 6-3 1-0 MURRAY: Djokovic is all over this. Four games in a row for him, and breaking at the opening of this fourth with some sweltering forehands.
That final game of the set hinged on Murray's unforced errors - Djokovic's power and presence at the baseline just crushed him, and he couldn't pull together decent returns.

DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-7 6-3 MURRAY: This disgruntled Murray is the old Murray, and it's not helping him. His forehand has gone to pot and he's incredibly tense, and it's no wonder that Djokovic gobbles up the set points that are served up on a plate for him.
Djokovic to serve for this third set, then. This seems to have zipped by.
