Good morning UK folk - the night match of the Australian Open is moments away and what a match we have in prospect. 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer takes on And Murray's conqueror Mischa Zverev out on the Rod Laver Arena.

Zverev makes his way off the court but laps up the appreciation from the crowd as he does. What a tournament for the German.

ZVEREV 1-6 5-7 2-6 FEDERER: GAME, SET, MATCH! No messing around from Federer as he moves to 30-0 at the blink of an eye, but Zverev takes the next point with a big forehand.... And Federer finds the net to level to make it 30-all.

Well, well, well! Simple volley into the net from Federer and it's break point Zverev! But an ace from Federer moves it onto deuece.

Unreturned serve and big cheers meet the first match point... And he's done it! Massive forehand clinches it. Roger makes his 41st Grand Slam semi!

ZVEREV 1-6 5-7 2-5 FEDERER: BREAK! Break point again to Federer and a forehand is inches away from dropping in. But back to deuece we go! Federer is almost in the service box when he attacks a Zverev second serve and it's another break point - but it's now five break points saved with an ace from Zverev.

Longest game of the match by far and it's a sixth break point for Federer with a simple volley finding the net. And there it is! Federer swats it down the line and will serve for the match...

Crikey. What a game. And now that could be game over.

ZVEREV 1-6 5-7 2-4 FEDERER: Forehand, volley, forehand, volley, and this time the forehand from Federer goes beyond Zverev to bring up break point. But an ace saves it!

Now a volley goes wide and it's another break point. Big serve AGAIN which Federer fails to return. The German then volleys to bring up game point but again Federer denies him and it's deuce number eight...

ZVEREV 1-6 5-7 2-4 FEDERER: Zverev rolls onto 40-15 but all of a sudden it's deuce with a couple of Federer winners. And now a third of the game hands Federer a break point... Brilliant from Zverev. Serve out wide, first volley can't quite beat Federer but he tucks away the second.

Mammoth game this as we head to a fifth deuce.... Zverev not able to take the game on the previous occasions.

ZVEREV 1-6 5-7 2-3 FEDERER: BREAK! In a flash it goes from 30-0 to 30-30 on Zverev's serve with a couple of winners from Federer. And then a volley from Zverev can only find the net and it's a break point for Federer...

Big save from the German. Covers the forehand down the line and plays the volley out of Federer's reach.

The Swiss then challenges a shot but immediately apologises because he only really apeared to do so after seeing how poor his lob was.... Wry smiles all around, including from Alexander Zverev in Mischa's box. 'He'll use that one in the future,' says McEnroe.

And now Federer has another break point! Some game this... And he takes it with a backhand down the line!

ZVEREV 1-6 5-7 1-0 FEDERER: 0-30 to Federer on Zverev's serve and already your thoughts are racing thinking this could be over. But the German rallies to win the next three points, but he sends a smash WIDE on game point!

Federer brings up break point with a backhand that flicks the net, but Zverev volleys to take it back to deuece. A couple of neat volleys hand Zverev the opening game of the third. Big hold.

ZVEREV 1-6 5-7 FEDERER: SET! A late call from a Federer shot is challenged at 15-0... Wow, we're talking millimetres in and now Federer brings up three set points. Zverev saves the first... and the second with a terrifc low volley. But a backhand goes wide on Federer's second serve and the Swiss goes two sets up!

ZVEREV 1-6 5-6 FEDERER: BREAK! Federer all of a sudden now moves to 0-30 and a backhand winner takes him to 0-40! How quickly things can change... He breaks to love! Zverev comes forward but leaves an almighty gap to his right for Federer to play a backhand winner and the Swiss will now serve for the set.

ZVEREV 1-6 5-5 FEDERER: Now then, 15-30 and Zverev is two points from the set. Massive second serve from Federer though and a big winner to boot. Chance for Zverev to attack another second serve but the German sends it long and Federer makes it 5-5.
