A pair of lovely forehands give Kyrgios 30-15, and a big serve elicits a net return; two match-points. Serve down the middle, nondescript return, pick-up takes the net cord, and Dutra silva balloons his backhand. Kyrgios is through, looking good, and will play the tricky Troicki next.

Kyrgios 6-1 6-2 5-4 Dutra Silva
Kyrgios is also in the Stabilo Boss outfit and has broken in the third set so Dutra Silva is now serving to stay in the match; he manages it, but in 90 seconds Kyrgios will serve for the match,

I don't have pictures of this one, but Kyrgios has broken sharpish and is, I've just been informed, playing very nicely.

Well that didn't take very long. Kyrgios has raced through that first set in round about half an hour.

Kyrgios is away, breaking Dutra Silva to give him control of this first set.

Kyrgios 2-1 Dutra Silva
We're still on serve here. I wonder, can this be Kyrgios's time? It's hard to see that he's ready to win a Slam, but on the other hand, if he stays in till the second week and gets on a roll, no one will fancy playing him.

And CoCo Wandeweghe, suffering from a touch of flu, is also out, which will, I'm sure, upset, er, er, er....
She's still got the doubles though, in which she'll play with Laura Robson.

Also, Zhang Shuai has beaten US Open champ Sloane Stephens. It's interesting in a way, that there are no dominant players at the moment, but for the health of the sport, tennis needs them. Dominant players attract eyeballs and raise standards.

Also today, Belinda Bencic sorted Venus in straight sets.

In the meantime, we're watching an interview with Kyle Edmund, who has knocked out Kevin Anderson, the US Open finalist, in five sets. That's a brilliant win for him, and exactly what he said he wanted to do this season: win more tight matches.
