The replay of the point goes Sharapova’s way with a huge serve as does the next and the Russian goes on to hold when Kvitova sends another two shots long. Kvitova will have to serve to stay in it after the change of ends

SHARAPOVA 6-2 3-6 4-4 – Another comparatively service hold from Kvitova, the Czech sealing it to 15 when Sharapova hit a backhand into the net after a cross court exchange. Huge game coming up for Sharapova next as she has faced break points in each of her last few games ...

SHARAPOVA 6-2 3-6 3-3 – Kvitova races through a relatively comfortable service hold to 15 to level up once again and sling all the pressure back on Sharapova, who is definitely having the harder time on serve

SHARAPOVA 6-2 3-6 3-2 – There’s a screech of annoyance, from the usually quiet Kvitova, as she misses a forehand long to squander a break point. And a second goes begging a couple of shots later when she slices a forehand wide across court. Sharapova is really down on herself in this game but somehow she manages to recover and hold when Kvitova again sends the ball wide across court

SHARAPOVA 6-2 1-4 – Channel 7 commentator, and sometime Eurosport commentator, Sam Smith has potentially put Kvitova’s resurgence in this second set down to the fact that her boyfriend has left her players box after the first set! Whatever it is, she holds to 15 to remain a break ahead, sealing it with a backhand winner

SHARAPOVA 6-2 1-3 – Kvitova backs away from the ball in order to take a second serve on her forehand instead of backhand, crunching a winner straight down the line to bring up another break point. Sharapova levels at deuce when Kvitova hits wide down the line before going on to hold when Kvitova hits wide across court

SHARAPOVA 6-2 0-3 – Kvitova sends Sharapova scampering across the baseline before putting her forehand down the line and just on to the outside of it to bring up a game point. And, although she misses her first serve, the Czech does go on to hold with a solid second serve that Sharapova can only return into the net

SHARAPOVA 6-2 0-2 – BREAK - Kvitova squanders another couple of break points with uncontrolled ground-strokes long but she does break at the third attempt and, although it’s still a little patchy, the Czech is landing more than she’s missing now. Momentum is really beginning to turn
