GAME, SET & MATCH! BOUCHARD 2-6 4-6 LI: Li secures her place in the Australian Open for the third time after overcoming a mini wobble and a fifth double fault that allowed Bouchard a glimmer of hope at 30-30. The Canadian kept battling but a superb last rally ends with Li flashing a cross court winner after Bouchard's shot down the line had clipped the net.
-
BOUCHARD 2-6 4-5 LI: The Canadian recovers from 15-30 down to take the next three points as Li's forehand towards the right-hand tramline catches the net and flies wide. The Chinese shrugs it off and prepares to serve for the match.
-
BOUCHARD 2-6 3-5 LI: The world number four has stepped it up a gear at just the right time. A fourth ace of the match puts her in control and she claims it to 15 when Bouchard fires long. The final is touching distance away for the Chinese.

BOUCHARD 2-6 3-4 LI: BREAK! Li responds by taking a 0-40 lead for the third Bouchard service game in a row. A brief moment of confusion over a challenge delays the inevitable, but it's not for long, and she secures the break to love.
-
BOUCHARD 2-6 3-3 LI: BREAK! Another keenly-contested game goes to deuce. Bouchard digs deep and lines up a break point. Her forehand seems like it could be long but Li doesn't challenge and the Canadian comes into the net to put away her tame defensive shot. All square in this set.

BOUCHARD 2-6 2-3 LI: BREAK! The Chinese reasserts control of the proceedings at 0-30 with a 25th winner that whistles past Bouchard as she attempts to make a tentative move into the net. A 26th winner back across court is just too good and the Canadian's revival takes a significant blow.
-
BOUCHARD 2-6 2-2 LI: The game's are much tighter now as Li levels it up. Another one goes to deuce as the duo exchange blows from the baseline. Li eventually comes out on top after out-passing her opponent in a fine rally before firing down a sliced ace.
-
BOUCHARD 2-6 2-1 LI: BREAK! The youngster's hard work to earn the break unravels immediately as she gifts Li three chances to hit straight back with a double fault. The Canadian saves one but then fires long with a forehand as her service game ends all too quickly.
-
BOUCHARD 2-6 2-0 LI: BREAK! We now have a match on our hands. The 19-year-old takes advantage of some weak serving from Li to lead 15-40. The world number four responds and a couple of strong first serves allow her to come into the net and save both break points. The duo mix superb winners with unforced errors to go to a fifth deuce before a fine forehand sets up a third break point that is secured when Li fires into the net on the run.

Li was imperious in the initial part of that first set.
-
BOUCHARD 2-6 1-0 LI: In stark contrast to her very first service game, Bouchard shows she's up for the battle as she saves two break points for the first time. The game goes to a fourth deuce courtesy of Li's 17th winner of the encounter but a Bouchard ace and a long forehand from the Chinese ensure the Canadian secures a big, big hold.

BOUCHARD 2-6 LI: SET! The Chinese stumbles over the first-set finish line after Bouchard forced her to deuce. It was plucky stuff from the Canadian but in the end she was undone by a thunderous serve and volley routine on set point.

BOUCHARD 2-5 LI: Some respite for the world number 30 as she finally gets her serve together and secures back-to-back games when Li fires long after being caught out at the baseline.
-
BOUCHARD 1-5 LI: BREAK! Where did that come from? A wave of relief will be sweeping over Eugenie and her army of fans as she avoids the bagel with some determined play. The Canadian tees up three break points and makes it count on the second courtesy of a double fault from Li.

Astonishing stuff from Li thus far.
