GAME, SET AND MATCH - LI 6-2 6-2 PENNETTA - No let up at all from Li at the end of that match as she races through a comfortable hold, sevring out the match at the first attempt with an inside out forehand followed by a forehand winner across court. The Chinese fourth seed is through to the semi-finals where she will face either Ana Ivanovic or Eugenie Bouchard.
-
LI 6-2 5-2 PENNETTA - A fifth double fault is not a great start to the game for Pennetta but there are a few glimpses towards the end of the game of how good Pennetta can be as she produces a booming smash and backhand drive volley winner to hold. Li will have a chance to serve for the match after the change of ends though.
-
LI 6-2 5-1 PENNETTA - Another love service game for Li as Pennetta completely mis-times a forehand return, which she cannot find the court with. The Italian will have to serve to stay in this match next...
-
LI 6-2 4-1 PENNETTA - A fantastic lob winner from Pennetta inspires almost no reaction at all from the Italian. But again it's only a temporary high as Li strides through first a forehand winner across court and then a forehand winner down the line to bring up yet another break point. She has too much time on the ball if anything though and puts her drive volley wide. From there Pennetta goes on to hold, with a wry smile!
-
LI 6-2 4-0 PENNETTA - Li has plenty of time to wait and see which way Pennetta goes before putting her forehand winner back behind the Italian to bring up two more game points. She only needs the one though, flicking her racquet at the ball and creating an injection of pace on a forehand winner down the line.

BREAK - LI 6-2 3-0 PENNETTA - Li's cross court forehand arcs away from the court, and also Pennetta, as soon as it lands, the Italian having no chance to get to the ball. It's another break point to Li, and one she takes full advantage of again as Pennetta nets a frustrated looking forehand.
-
LI 6-2 2-0 PENNETTA - There's a flash of anger behind the Pennetta return as she blasts a forehand winner back past Li. The Italian absolutely knew her opponent was going to serve and volley but didn't even give her time to get to the service line! It's only a temporary respite for Pennetta though as Li holds to love for the second time in quick succession and consolidates the break in the process.

BREAK - LI 6-2 1-0 PENNETTA - Ouch! Just as Pennetta was seemingly getting into this match she gifts Li the opening break of the second set. The fourth seed only had to come up with one winner in the game as Pennetta slapped down another series of unforced errors, including a double fault to end the game with.

SET - LI 6-2 PENNETTA - No mistake from Li Na this time around as she serves out the set to love, a backhand winner quickly followed by a forehand winner bring up three set points. But it only takes the one as Li unleashes a low backhand that Pennetta can only return into the net.

LI 5-2 PENNETTA - A fantastic rally by both players only ends after 18 strokes when Pennetta just gets a little too much air underneath a cross court backhand and the ball drifts wide. It allows Li to level up at deuce but a second serve ace and a backhand return wide from Li and the Italian has her first hold of the day.

BREAK - LI 5-1 PENNETTA - Li throws in a double fault of her own to allow Pennetta off the mark in the game but she quickly recovers with a change-of-direction backhand winner down the line on her way to two set points. Pennetta saves the first with a backhand return winner down the line and then also the second with a backhand winner down the opposite line to end the rally. And she goes on to break, and get off the mark, when Li nets a backand down the centre of the court.

BREAK - LI 5-0 PENNETTA - Just too good from Li as she levels up at 30-all with a cross court forehand winner than skids away as soon as it hits the court. 30-all quickly becomes another break point to the Chinese star as she climbs all over the Pennetta serve and batters a backhand return deep into the court to draw the error from the Italian. And, under extreme pressure, it's not the greatest shock that Pennetta then throws in a double fault to concede her serve for a third time.
-
LI 4-0 PENNETTA - It's been the perfect start so far from Li as she whips an ace out wide (the follow-up into the net not needed) to wrap up a love service hold. That's the double break consolidated for the fourth seed and Pennetta has sent some racquets off to be re-strung.

BREAK - LI 3-0 PENNETTA - An incredibly brave second serve right on to the service line seems to surprise even herself as she has barely recovered from her service motion when Li's return lands back at her feet. Perhaps unsurprisingly Pennetta's follow-up forehand goes long to hand Li another two break points. The Italian saves the first but can do nothing about the second as another forehand drifts long to gift Li the double break lead.
-
LI 2-0 PENNETTA - Pennetta is pushed so wide she is almost outside the tramlines when she throws her entire body weight behind a backhand down the line for a winner to bring up two immediate break back points. Li saves the first with a big forehand and then the second with a backhand winner. Pennetta earns herself a third chance with a backhand return winner down the line but again cannot take advantage and Li goes on to hold with some big serving.

BREAK - LI 1-0 PENNETTA - It takes until the final point of the game before we even get a rally! Pennetta opens with an ace before Li levels up at 15-all with a booming backhand return winner across court. A double fault follows from Pennetta as does a forehand error before Li goes on to break at the first attempt with a trip into the net and an agressive enough backhand approach shot that Pennetta can only return into the net.
